Something to think about for all these '2 max slots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' guys...

Just look back in free agency history. Let's keep it more recent like 2010.

The Heat had Wade and signed LeBron and Bosh.

The Cavs had Kyrie when they got LeBron back.

The Warriors had Curry, Klay and Green when they signed Durant.

The Thunder had Westbrook when they traded for Paul George.

The Rockets had James Harden when they signed Chris Paul.

We have nothing. Nothing. What are we offering? A lottery pick? The potential of Mitchell Robinson? Kevin Knox? Frank? No superstar is dying to play with these guys. No superstars are dying to team up to play with these guys either.

LeBron went to the Lakers for business purposes first and foremost at this stage in his career so I don't consider that anything.

We're a disgrace.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Phil wanted to trade diva KP when he was relatively healthy and people were outraged about it. It was the right move.

Look what management has done since Phil was fired:

Signed Ron Baker
Signed THJr
Drafted Knox (who is terrible)
Traded for Mudiay (terrible)
Gave away Willy
Signed Fiz (terrible coach)
Stressing iso-ball, no passing, no defense, no movement, no discipline or team play.
Oh, and the coup de grace....... trading KP for f'ing Dennis Smith Jr.

They've done 2 things right, drafting Mitch and signing Trier (who is still not a good player).

I want Phil back.

Did we get Dallas's pick from this year? It might not be half bad.

It does, if he was taking the QO for sure. The knee jerk is that we could have shopped him for more, but look at AD? Teams know he's likely a rental. Then look at KP, can't even play this year (maybe limited minutes) and then is gone after next year. I get it, but holy crap it stings.

if KP took the QO then you have KP for 7 mil or whatever for a season to prove things
if we think were landing butler and Kyrie or Durant and Kyrie or whatever we could have moved picks to move thjr and kept KP resigning him in 2021

none of this makes sense

not for what we got

If we signed KP to the QO, he would likely just leave after the season and leave us with nothing.

but at least you have the chance to convince him to stay
he wants to win, not to leave NYC

Well, had always said THJ & Lee would require assets, didn't know it'd take KP.

To ensure that he would take the QO? Maybe once they saw he was serious then they moved on it.

Exactly. There may be more to the story that we yet know, but right now Perry and Mills don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Props to the FO if this deal has been planned for weeks, this type of stuff historically has got out in a NY minute.

If Dennis would've eaten the octopus we wouldn't have had to make this trade
