Trae with another big game finishing with 28/9. Made 5 three pointers tonight which is encouraging, his shot is really starting to fall.

Kid can score on all 3 levels. Next step is getting stronger, tightening up the handles and becoming more locked in on defense.

There was nothing funny about it at all. Trae could be the best player from the draft when it's all said and done

Anybody could be the best player, the question is, what are the odds of that.

It was funny cause he got baited into answering it the way he did.
I understand the US media loves to stir things up with provoking questions. A little modesty wouldnt hurt here, for starters, you can be sure this only motivates Luka to be better then Young and puts aditional unnecessary pressure on Young.
You can be sure, that if in 5 years from now, Young still isnt better then Luka, some reporter is gonna call him out on this and if Young will be struggeling you can bet its not gonna do well for his confidence.
He could simply answer something like "Im not a future teller, Im sure we will both be great and would I like to ask the media to stop making a thing out of this".
I guess its harder to be modest, then "boosting" your ego even if its at your own risk.

It’s that ego that allows someone like Young(undersized and not overly athletic) to be great. It’s what got him here.
Plus, nobody will remember or care in 5 years

Fans, understandably, lack patience when it comes to the players.
I think Trae has the potential to be an all-star player - especially in the East. IMO Trae has overtaken Ayton on the rookie ladder. Hilariously, Trae might be ruining the tank for the Hawks right now. We don't know for sure but I have a sneaking suspicion the Suns are holding Ayton out longer than they need to add insurance for their tank.
As for who will be better - Luka or Trae?
Only time will tell. Just to bring in one example the 1998 draft - Dirk is clearly the best player in that draft but it wouldn't have seemed obvious after their first season and not even after 3-4 seasons.
Vince was ROY and Pierce was better too. You could even say Mike Bibby and Raef LaFrentz were better than Dirk their rookie season.
People who speak about the future of Luka and Trae like they can see into the future know exactly as much as the rest of us do - nothing.

Dirk became the best player from that draft because of his great size for his position. The similar story is with Luka. If Luka was 6’2” and Trae 6’8”, I would have been 99% sure Trae becomes the best player.

Luka is average size for a 3 and Trae is average size for a 1. Neither has an advantage.
Dirk on the other hand had an elite shooting/scoring skill package for a 7 footer playing the 4. Just took him a while to get strong enough to use it.

Luka is playing as Pg and with DSJ gone, he will have the ball in his hands even more.

Luka is playing Pg.
Is he guarding 1s?
No, okay then he's a highly skilled 3, which is what he guards.

Highly skilled 3, who is playing as Pg in offense.

I guess you could argue that height gives a significant passing advantage, but I don't know if I buy that.
Ultimately, I think Luka and Trae are both going to be fantastic players. Had them 1 and 2 in my draft rating, iirc.

Luka has just big body. Especially when he loses his baby fat and gain some muscles. If you don’t see that as a big advantage, than I guess we won’t come to any kind of conclusion. If Trae becomes elite shooter like Curry, things might be more equal. But if Luka becomes near elite shooter, he will be virtually unstoppable.

Your point depends on Doncic's starting lineup position. If at 3, he's defended by a 3, so where is the height advantage ?
Now that DSJ was traded, he may start at PG, but probably Brunson gets the start. Based on the position he has been used so far(mostly PF) and his body type it's safe to say his starting position will not be at PG going forward.

he almost never played Pf. he was guarding 3 or 2 in defense, depending who was less dangerous and was playing mostly Pg in offense in December and January. He was defended by guards many times. When he plays with Brunson almost all playmaking is in his hands.

yeah i had them 1 n 2 in my draft as well. trae is performing about as i suspected...just thought his 3pt shooting would be around 33% instead of 27%.
Luka has far exceeded. i thought he would be a very good player and looks every bit the part of a generational player.
like i said, its a full rebuild.

I think he has passed the ball just fine when he was guarded by PG and Kawhi.
