I got 4 trades that will net us 5 2nd round picks at the deadline:

1st trade - NYK/SAC - Wes Matthews for Ben Mclemore, Yogi Ferrell, and a 2nd round pick
2nd trade - NYK/SAC - Deandre Jordan for Zbo, KK, and 2 2nd round picks
3rd trade - NYK/WAS - Mudiay to the Wizards for the John Wall injury exception or Jason Smith TPE and a 2nd round pick
4th trade - NYK/PHI - Vonleh to the Sixers for the Saric TPE and the CHI 2019 2nd round pick

if you make trades 3 and 4 first you free up 3 roster spots to take back the excess players from the kings. Plus we can buyout kanter.

Then we would have 5 2nd round picks of assets we acquired for players that wont be here next year. That would be great asset acquisition.

Philly wants depth... we have plenty... they have plenty of 2nd rounders.

I always thought they were a good trade partner for that reason.

Other teams doesnt trade their franchise player for salary dump.
In this case they dont even trade their young prospects for salary dump.

If we miss out the FA, then we should collect those 1 year expirings but it'd be for 2nd round picks and some Mudiay level prospects.

These aren't bad ideas at all, although I don't think Sac trades for Matthews. Deandre Jordan trade makes sense to me. Mudiay to DC makes sense - although they may be slipping into asset procurement mode instead of trying to stay in contention. I really like Vonleh and would like to see him stay a Knick. I get what you are doing there, but it would take 2 2nds for me to give up Vonleh (even with the Chicago pick being high).

Trading Vonleh doesn’t mean we can’t sign him back this offseason.
BAF Suns

Chris Paul / Patrick Beverley / Shamorie Ponds
Buddy Hield / Timothy Luwawu / Stanley Johnson
Kendrick Nunn / Matisse Thybulle / Darius Miller
RJ Barrett / Kyle Kuzma / Dwayne Bacon

correct, which is why get an asset now and then you can try to sign him in a few months

The Knicks have to be looking to deal Mudiay at this point, right?

As long as not taking on extra salary and getting some form of picks, how about helping facilitate Sacramento making a playoff push? Make Boston's pick less valuable for a potential AD trade.

2019/2020 Knicks Roster, If lose out on Big Time FA:

DSJ/Mudiay or Brogdon
Dotson/Trier/2nd R DP?
1st R DP? or Obure/Knox/DLP
Kanter/Robinson/FA
1st R DP?/Randall or Parker or Vonieh

I would say more:
DSJ/Frank/Trier
Dotson/Trier/Frank
Knox/Dotson/Hezonja (one year deal)
Vonleh/Knox/Heonja
Robinson/Vonleh/Kornet

It's strange that DSJ would likely start in front of Frank, yet Frank is the better player to me already and the keeper for a Big 3 roster.

Hey guys,

quick question: Are the Knicks planning to keep Matthews if he doesn't get traded? Has there been any reporting on that?

You know the Knicks will need to reach at minimal over $80 million threshold on player salaries.

That is just right now. For next year I consider that a base. You add in your draft pick or picks, and then see who comes aboard. If we get snubbed by the big name FAs, maybe we take on some dead salary w/young assets or draft picks, or else give some players deals similar to what we did with Hezonja or what Jabari Parker got from Chicago (overpaid with a Team Option). I'd like to see us lock Vonleh into a 4 year deal for a reasonable amount.

Other Tier 2 FAs I would be willing to try out at reasonable rates and/or short term deals:

PF: Tobias Harris (still don't see him as Tier 1), Bobby Porter, Randle, Aminu
C: Cousins, WCS, Noel
SF: Barnes, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (is he that broken?), Hood
PG: Rozier, Russell
2G: Ennis 3

All good trades. Even if just one 2nd for DAJ I'd take anything we can get

And then we move to Stage II - taking on garbage contracts along with first round picks. :D

Apparently Mo Bamba has been made available. Any interest? Would he be redundant with Robinson on the team?
