LOL have you forgotten we made it to the ECF without kyrie last year? meanwhile the raps got rudely swept away by the cavs without kawhi -- and they still had derozan.

tatum is definitely a better prospect, and he's improving. i don't agree that siakam is better now, but even if true, that won't be for long.

In 2020, the Celtic will have $71m tied up in Haywood, Horford, and Smart. Thats HORRIBLE cap management. Horford is regressing like crazy, Haywood is nowhere near the player he was pre-injury. So yes, Tatum is a nice piece, but your pairing him with an aging overpaid core and have zero cap space. The Raptors will have Siakam and then $80m in cap space (Ibaka, Lowry, JV, Miles). I'd take Toronto position 10/10 times.

The ****? Horford will likely opt out this summer, but even if he opts in he expires at the end of next year. Hayward has two more. And Marcus Smart is on a fantastic contract.

Leaving trolling to the people who are actually good at it—you’re not even worth the suspension.

Don't suspend him. Let him keep going.

I, for one, am bookmarking this thread to revisit it in a few months. I'm betting we will all have a laugh at this pathetic troll.

Kinda wish these board were unmoderated other than killing spam. Any doubts on how bad I could destroy that Raptors board if the chains were taken off? I would burn that place to the ground and then play with the ashes. I think we all know that lol.

Pretty sure youre welcome to do so in their unmoderated “wasteman” thread, but not positive.

We debated opening one here, but it would just be a bunch of 14 year old Canadians saying Boston is racist while they gleefully ignore the racist/homophobic/anti-semitic side of their own city.

Kyrie to knicks makes no sense if he likes Boston. If he didn’t like the town, he should tell Ainge.

Celtics have treated Kyrie great BTW. It is not mike he can’t hop in a car, or a short flight, and he in nyc any time he wants. It literally makes no sense.

Sadly, my cousin is a Raptors fan and lurks that board. He tells me that they mention me in that thread at least once a week. Kind of funny that I still live rent-free in their heads, as I haven't trolled there at all this season. 8-)

He also pointed out to me one poster whom you had obliterated so badly that he pasted your reply a few months after the fact, and stated that this was the reason he stopped getting involved in beefing over the internet. I wish I had bookmarked it, but the one point I will never forget is you saying you lived in California, which by itself, had a larger GDP than all of Canada.

Love the discussion the last few pages. Taking the Knicks deal would allow for more tanking and that could be the preferred route for Pelicans front office. Trading Holiday would accelerate that process even more. However, is there any change that Pelicans office and/ or fans might not be able to stomach a few years of bad basketball? Would front office be even remotely intrigued by trotting out Holiday, Smart, Tatum, Randle, and Mirotic in Alvin Gentry's offensive system?

Also, about Porzingis:

Does anyone here think the Knicks giving him a smear campaign on the way out was a little dumb? I mean, you propped that guy up as the savior of your franchise for a long time, hell I live here; I see ads with him on it and Porzingis jerseys all the time, so why feel the need to dump on him on his way out?

I don't think it's affects the summer at all or anything like that, but it doesn't look too good on them as a franchise IMO.

The city of Toronto + Norman Powell + Pascal Siakam on a freshly minted Otto Porter special = catnip for top tier FAs

Couple other things I thought of for NY's 3-fer.

They have Lance Thomas still on a $1M guarantee or $7.1M.
Also a team option on Trier for $3.5M.

Depending on where there pick comes in (and it's resultant salary), they could use either of those values in the trade for AD. So, they have options on $0, $1M, $3.5M, $7.1M, $10.6M salary buffers depending on exactly where the cap and pick salary come in. Nice flexibility. Might enable them to include AD's trade kicker or keep a piece.

Also, if they do pull it off and get Kyrie, AD & KD, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Mook sign there for the non-taxpayer MLE.

NY is his home. Don't know if the Knicks were his team growing up though. Probably not because it it was, it's hard to imagine him being as enthusiastic as he was when he was traded to Boston, since they're a historic rival of the Knicks.

But it sounds like he wants to maximize rings too, when he talked about legacy last night after the game. So maybe he's going to assess how much of a contender the Celtics are based on how they fare this season. If Boston fails to at least get to the ECF, he may be more inclined to decide to leave.

I've not been to Toronto or Boston.

I hear Toronto is nice though, kind of like a smaller NY. Wasn't there some international player who wanted to sign with Toronto because it was a good place for non-natives? Thinking it was Turkoglu.

But higher taxes and the fact that it's not the US probably makes it harder for them to attract some American NBA players.

Customs suck too.

Paul Pierce once famously said after the Wizards came home from Toronto up 2-0 in their playoff series, "I don't want to have to go through customs no more!" After the sweep, he didn't have to.

Expecting Ainge to seriously look into moving Kyrie. He did love DSJ at the time lf the draft.

Not always, but as close as it gets on this board. He thought the Wizards were going to be really good with Wall/Beal/Porter after the 2017 ECFs. I remember because that's the last time I really disagreed with him. He's definitely got some connections and I trust what he's saying about KD to Knicks.

I doubt customs is a problem for players since they take chartered jets. I doubt they have to lineup like regular folks.

As for Toronto - it's a great city. NBA players love the night life. Lot of great clubs, good music scene (Tory Lanez >> Drake though), high end shopping, and lots of attractive women (Persian ladies are hot down there).

However, I'm thinking it's the small things that probably get annoying for NBA players. No ESPN, having to exchange money when you go back and forth, and if any of your friends or relatives want to come and visit you, they better not have a criminal record or else they aren't getting in. Even a simple DUI renders you as criminally inadmissible to Canada. Hell, they even changed the DUI laws up here in December, where the maximum sentence for that offence can get you 10 years in jail. That upgrades your inadmissibility from just Criminality to Serious Criminality under our immigration laws. Not being able to have your boys or relatives come to visit you could be a bummer.

I guess another thing that I just thought of that would be a nuisance is having to pay duty when you bring stuff back up. Let's say you go on a road trip, stop by LA and pick up some jewelry or designer clothes - well, you have to claim that stuff when you cross the border. With the way these players spend money, that could be a hefty duty charge. But again, who knows if they even check athletes when they come up.

We all know what the weather is like, and while Raptors fans have a point in saying that Boston, NYC and Chicago can be just as bad in the winter, it's definitely the culmination of all the little things that could deter a player from coming to Toronto.

Also, even though I agree Brown and Knox are side dishes, I wonder if Brown's intellectual makeup that makes him a desirable player in the eyes of the Spurs (per ddb a while back), would also be considerably more appealing to Demps, who is also part of the Spurs tree.

Return to Boston Celtics
