League sources have told me that KD has expressed interest in joining the Celtics.

If you take a step back, that shouldn't be a shock. It's generally believed that the Celtics were Durant's second choice in 2016 and more than a few observers feel that had the Warriors won the '16 title Durant would be a Celtic now. The Celtics would obviously be amenable to this too; Durant has long been the apple of Ainge's eye.

If KD and Kyrie really do want to team up, why would they shackle themselves to James Dolan when an alternative exists? While Boston can't create the cap space to sign Durant, and can't reasonably acquire him via sign-and-trade (receiving a player via S&T invokes a hard salary cap that they would be hard-pressed to get under), there is another way.

Chris Paul moved to Houston via trade by opting in to the last year of his contract, but only once he had brokered an agreement between the Rockets and Clippers. If Durant and Irving wanted to pair up in the best available situation, Durant could follow the same path via his $31.5M final year option. He would be taking a significant pay cut for next season but he's already shown a willingness to do that over his years with the Warriors.

I would like to point out that a Kevin Durant sign and trade would not prohibit the Celtics from also doing an Anthony Davis trade. Theoretically, they could do both, and have a Big 3 of KD, AD, and Kyrie.

Continuing this here. Some **** moron picked the wrong AD thread to merge.

Spoiler:
Im sorry guys

23-9 since November 25th.

Sure, against the dregs of the league for the most part. But yes, Hayward looks a little better.

Let's see what happens today against a WC team with a comparable record-- and it's own little win streak (7 in a row). They'll miss Baynes against Adams.

Doesn't sound like you are rooting for them lol.

Sure I'm rooting for them, but this is a big test. They must play well, which they don't always do on national TV. The whole country is starting early on their pizza and doritos and cracking open that first beer to watch this game.

Pretty pissed off that some obscure rule is preventing us from getting this done this week instead of waiting 5 months.

Not a contradiction. Kyrie's official stance is basically "You're young, and that has bad consequences, but it's wrong to blame you because you can't help yourselves."

Of course, that's Kyrie, so his stance or at least his emphasis could change drastically any time.

Making public the nature of that "apology" like that was just another way to take a public swipe at the young C's--after he had vowed to stop taking public swipes at the young C's.

The idea that Kyrie is sorry he didn't understand the pressures of leadership, and didn't understand how inexperience and young player priorities can get in the way of winning... that's absolutely fine. Communicating that to the media to indirectly criticize your younger teammates in public - not great or ideally mature.

Having that realization, communicating it to the media suggests maybe Kyrie hasn't matured as much as he thinks.

Having that realization and having it be a reason you want to leave your current team suggests you're definitely not mature, you're definitely not a leader, if at the first adversity in your leadership, you're emotionally bruised and ready to bail on the team you promised to lead. He said he wanted his number retired in Boston? He doesn't deserve it, all the stats in the world, unless he gets it together mentally now.

Yeah he lacks leadership abilities and common sense. Like Jaylen Brown, he thinks he is smarter than he actually is.

Other than that, Kyrie is a great basketball player.

He's not wrong, like 90% of our wins have come against the worst teams in the league

Who els are we supposed to play? Nice wins vs TO, a healthy Indy, and a good game vs the Dubs too. Playing well in this one, too.

We started slow and are playing pretty good over nearly half a season's worth of games, with as good a record as anyone in that span. The "problems" are way overstated, IMO. There are other good teams.

A season of adversity but enough talent to make it to the finals.

In 5 months, my guess is people are going to say AD who? Look at how Brown has been playing the last month plus. The team looks like it is gelling a bit more. Ball movement has been in an uptick.

If they have any indication Durant wants to come to Boston, thats the move to make.

Hence the 90%

They beat who’s on the schedule, hence the 23-9

Return to Boston Celtics
