We need to load up with as many picks as we can for our expiring contracts. If we get KD, but miss out on the other max free agent types, then we may have to trade for two of them. Something like trade picks for Griffin, and youngins for Lillard/Beal.

Either way getting assets for ezpirings is a must at this point. Hope we can complete some deals.

Anybody run the numbers on our salary cap situation, I was bored this morning so I threw some numbers together, might be right, might be wrong.
109m salary cap.
Joakim - 6,431,666

LFT - 1,000,000

= 7,431,666 (dead cap)
+

Frank - 4,855,800
DSJ - 4,463,640
Knox- 4,380,120
Mitch - 1,559,712
=$22,690,938

86,309,062

 remaining

-rookie salary - 8,120,700
 (assuming zion, the most possible)
78,188,362 remaining

minus 5x roster spot holds(?) - 897,158(?)
=73,702,572

-Durant 38,150,000

35,659,062
 remaining
another max cat (32,700,000)

2,959,062 remaining

Dotson and Trier aren't guaranteed but Dotson makes - 1,618,520 and
Trier would make - 3,551,100
.
Then again who knows if Frank or Dotson make it past the trade deadline

I think the deal that makes the most sense is

Matthews for Chandler/Patton/future 2nd rounder

then an agree upon 2nd trade

Vonleh for a TPE + CHI 2nd round pick

philly gets two solid roles players knicks trade in two productive expirings for two expirings and 2 picks (1 pick is a high 2nd rounder)

Let me add the caveat that I love Frank, would be totally happy keeping him, and think he'd fit in fantastically with a super team of 2 max FAs.

But getting picks rawdog is next level flexibility and positioning to be at the front of the list on ANY trade that goes down in the league.

IDK Frank is the exact PG they need next to Luka and KP to shore up some of their roster problems. Luka needs a PG who can guard PG/SG position and be a well enough passer to get him the ball if he is off-ball and open. KP needs a PG to keep people from driving into him from the perimeter. if that PG can shoot the 3 when open great, perfect.

There are a few guys in the league who can do that at a high level (Pat Bev, Marcus Morris, etc, etc) but why send one of the best to the Mavs on a rookie deal when we want that 2021 pick to be as good as possible.

His agent and manager is Rich Kleinman who works for Roc Nation Sports and The Kevin Durant Company (yes that's a real thing). He is a HUGE Knicks fan and grew up in the city. It's Kleinman who people think is one of the biggest reasons he might come here.

I think the 2nd rounder is more valuable for us since it doesn't hit the cap space hold. Its a league minimum cap hold while the 1st rounder is locked in salary. It's why I always prefer early 2nds then late 1sts. Lot more cap flexibility.

Okay okay... Thanks! He's (Kleinman) the same guy whom I read about. He said he was going to run the Knicks one day if I'm not mistaken.

That's the guy. He and KD are super tight. Not saying an agent/manager can have that much influence, but Kleinman's role in all this can't be understated. There are even whispers (probably false) that Kleinman legit wants a job with the Knicks which we could use to lure KD.

I think making the trade early was about leaving room for other deals. At least in part that was a reason.

We asked: do you want to bring kyrie/preimiter player or play with KP?

he said he doesnt care if KP is here as long as he has kyrie or another high lvl perimeter player.

Wow.Amin said that? Was this on a podcast? Thanks for the info

He filled in for Jalen this episode and said it here

the most interesting part of this is he says kp's medicals are questionable.

I agree. He has a set of tasks he's trying to accomplish and definitely couldn't leave it all to the trade deadline. Things are in motion

Royal Ivey his boy. We literally set up for KD by bringing in Perry.

I don't see Kyrie to Knicks guys. Unless he doesn't like living in Boston, he'd be a fool to leave. I don't understand why there isn't more Kemba Walker to Knicks buzz. He's even more NYC than Kyrie.
