If AD DOES want to go to Boston, it's to his advantage to let people think he doesn't, so as to drive down what Boston would have to offer for him in a trade.
On the other hand, if he truly doesn't want to come here, the leaks make sense as well.
I think you're giving these guys too much credit. It's not a double or a triple bluff. He wants to go where he wants to go and he's actively burning down the trade market anywhere else.
It's a tried and true formula at this point, and one I expect to keep seeing going forward. Last year it didn't work out for Kawhi because Toronto made a "screw it" move. But that was a very unique circumstance.
The problem this year with AD is, Boston can't very well make a "screw it" move with what it would cost to bring him here, when we don't even know if our current franchise player wants to be here. It could set the franchise back literally a decade or more.
Danny's trying to build a skyscraper on sand right now.
Quite frankly - This is going to be two "all-in" obsessions that DA will have missed.
1. KD
2. AD
Now we're in a position where you have a 30+ Million a year Kyrie if he resigns, a 30 million Hayward, a 25 million Horford w/ Brown and Tatums coming up.
The team is hamstrung.
The GH injury really hurt everything but what can you do. C's are going to have to either roll with this team or start making moves to build around Tatum/Brown/Kyrie... sorry Horford/GH.
It's not that simple though because of the $
Been saying this since our early-season struggles. The current Hayward-Horford core may be tapped out. Maybe time for a youth movement..

Kyrie For Three wrote:SmartWentCrazy wrote:Homerclease wrote:It’s a bit apples and oranges because sitting him against the Knicks after the whole Kyrie to the Knicks thing went public would’ve looked much more shady then what we are reading into this now. Most likely answer is the most obvious one IMO. The Cavs suck and we’re trying to keep Kyrie fresh for the postseason
Sitting out a third consecutive game with an injury wouldnt look shady.
He had family at MSG for the game Friday night. His dad was right there to watch him. When his dad is there, Kyrie usually plays. Kyrie had family there too for our Christmas game vs. Philly and the one before that at home vs. Charlotte.
This is the Cavs on the road too, they are beyond terrible. Kyrie isn't needed before a big game vs. the Lakers on TNT at home. I mean sure it's a road game in Cleveland and we have struggled in those but surely Terry can handle this right?
With Kyrie though they are doing a low key load management thing lately not to over work him vs. bad teams and the meh teams at home. He always shows up for the games we need him in though.
If anything it tells me they are keeping him fresh and that the team considers him an integral part of making a big postseason run this year.
Good point about his family there.

If Danny does it, it was probably the right move.
Any Kyrie move Ainge as a GM can only view it the same way the Spurs viewed Kawhi.
No rebuilding team will trade for a contract year Irving.
Winning teams might to put them over the hump.
Or teams with good players looking to sell (there's only really MEM here).
So like the Spurs traded for an all-star like Derozen who would be signed too long if they need to blow it up. Ainge could do say an Irving (with Yabs, Bird, and Wanna for salary matching) for Mike Conely with the Grizzs.
We can take the risk on Conley because he's signed and we're locked into Hayward anyways.
Grizzs would probably only do this if they're trading Gasol as well and are starting over clearing their cap space while still having Irving put on entertaining basketball and they fall into the bottom 5 of the league.
And the Cetlics kind of like the Spurs traded a dollar for fifty cents, but fifty cents that's locked up long term and won't complain.
Or you could do the same trade for Millsap and the Nuggets with them believing it puts them over the top this year.
Would be to Knicks:
Irving for DAJ
Yabu for DSJ
Hopefully we could nab that 2022 unprotected Dallas pick, too.
That's a good point, didn't consider that. The Knicks or Nets would probably trade for them.
Hell the Clippers or Lakers would probably trade for him too, but the Lakers will have no assets left if they trade them all for AD.
I'd take a trade for Ball, I know his value is super low but there's potential there.

This is about the best offer LA can make. If NO says not to this, I really doubt they can get him past the deadline.

This has all been planned out by LeBron, his agent and a few select Superstars...Why do you think James signed with the Lakers to begin with?... Davis' announcement was orchestrated. Lakers will roll with LeBron, Davis, Kyrie or Rondo...and one of Durant/Leonard/Thompson, next season.

We just have to make it through the rest of the week. And part of me wonders if the reports that Kyrie hates having his name paired to a players future is true. He's technically "the man" on this current Celtics team and probably hates hearing he is tied to AD/KD all the time in the news.
But I still think people over analyze the guy. I still think Kyrie honestly is focused on this current season. He was pretty upset we were the 5th seed. Now that we have moved up a few spots he might feel better.
He does want to make a run this year, thats what these guys play for.
His play is not going down at all. He is flat out balling, he wants to make a serious run with the Celtics THIS season and thats all we can ask for at the moment.

So that's everything the Lakers could conceivably offer except Josh Hart and yet more picks?

LA Times reporter for the Lakers. He's the equivalent of Adam Himmelbach for example..

The catch is that they take hill's contract. Lance, rondo and beasley are all expiring and are fillers.
They'll take the entire lakers young core minus zubac and hart.
The picks won't be particulary good but 2 1sts are 2 1sts.
If they take ball/ingram/kuzma and they don't trade any of holiday/mirotic/radle they might be a lot better than they were with AD

Rondo, Beasley and Stephanson would just get bought out.
can they go back to LA or do the rules exempt that?

Rules would not allow that
