From what I understand Vuc has been on the trade block for over 2.5 years. We can't trade him unless we can at least get a halfway decent deal and IMO none have been offered yet or he would have been dealt. There are a lot of teams that he could help in the playoffs but the question is can they offer us anything worthwhile?

I’ll also say, the offer has to exist. However, the deal doesn’t have to be amazing at face value. I’d be happy with a late first and a prospect (rookie or second contract) buried on a bench.

The problem with Vuc is not based on the individual. In a vacuum, he'll earn the his market value. But market value is the devil in disguise. We can't just pay a guy market value and assume we're on track. We have to be smart and calculative in our spending and rebuilding.

Surround Vuc with other veteran stars and I think he could help them win a championship. I wouldn't doubt it. But that team is bound to be paying a high luxury tax because he can't be one of their main stars and he'll have to step in several notches down the totem pole on his new team.

The problem is dealing with him within the constructs of a team in rebuilding... like ours! People think I hate the player, but I really just hate his fit on this team and his prohibiitive influence. He is stiffling the growth of Gordon, Isaac and Bamba and it's not even about playing time. It's about his overpowering influence on the team and his usage in the way the coaches rely on him. He is the established leader of the clubhouse due to his seniority, and the respect he commands. But he is a road block. WeHam already made the decision to invest 2 high lottery picks on our future frontcourt. The development and fruition of that duo cannot be put on hold for 3-4 years. Once Bamba's rookie year is over, he needs to start showing significant steps forward.

We don't need to be forcing ourselves prematurely into building a contenter with Vuc as the centerpiece. We should've learned our lesson from the Hennigan / Skiles / Ibaka fiasco. If WeHam starts scraping their lottery investments to the side in order to build around Vuc with vets, then it will be another recycling mess.

I must say... I'm pleasantly surprise and happy that the vote is currently at 19 to 19. I thought there was an overwhelming favoritism to Vuc here. Kudos to the Anti-Vuc Fight Team! MagicMatic, BambaExpress, Martinzisafraud, Furinkazan, Nemesis, jragg! :D

There isn't really any reason to trade him at this point... Strategically everyone is gunning for guys like Anthony Davis so nobody is going to seriously go after him unless the Magic accept a low-ball offer (which is highly unlikely right now).

Just resign him and take it from there with him. Plus, who knows who comes in the off-season that would play with him. Gotta take it slow right now and see how things play-out over the next few months.

Plus, on top of that I'd be concerned how this would effect the development and Issac/Bamba if they're thrust too early in their development to be given premium roles. Right now they're both being developed the right way and I feel like moving Vucevic without any contingency for a competent first scoring option and a big who can fill his minutes would hurt those two significantly.

I understand people want to "blow it up" or "start fresh"... But I don't think that's something the organization is clearly wanting to do nor has that really ever worked in rebuilding situations with most winning cultures. Hell you look at Dallas now... They didn't exactly tank (as they made savvy moves) and look primed to be a contender for years to come. It just comes down to being smart and making the right moves/trades (IMO).

I’m not Anti Vuc the player.. I’m Anti Vuc on this roster/team. Feel like there is a HUGE difference between being a hater and seeing that building around him is pretty difficult for Magic the next 2-3 years.

It depends how confident the Magic are that they can resign him to a reasonable deal. It also depends on how good management thinks Vuc will be going forward. Ditching our old exercise crew seems to have paid off for Vuc, but you never know.

Trading GM now would be a public relations disaster for the GM, coach and organization. I don't think he going anywhere. Really need to trade lazy Bamba.

If we can resign him to a friendly deal, resign him and trade him once Bamba starts to show good improvement. Hopefully next year once he becomes eligible to be traded. :D
If neither of these, just let him go.

A three-year 65 mil deal. Being the first all-star since Dwight, he is going to want more money then AG. We know what we are getting in Vuc. Its contract year so let's not forget the extra effort is coming from another motivation. Trading him is not going to happen unless it's a great offer.

Voted to trade Vuc just based on the direction I feel the team should be focused on going but I gotta say I almost voted the opposite just to spite the almost unbearable Skin.

So you don't agree Bamba would average 20 and 10 if he got 30 minutes a night and we massaged his ego more?

If bamba was further along then I would be down with trading him, but bamba looks like excrement right now so..... I'd keep him around until bamba can get the training wheels off.

Regardless of what happens it’s crazy that tomorrow’s game could potentially be Vucevic and Fourniers final games as members of the Magic

This isn't really factual.

January was Vucevic's best full 3PT shooting month of the season.

FG% by Month
Nov: .547
Dec: .485
Jan: .505

3PT% by Month
Nov: .364
Dec: .325
Jan: .380

His shooting definitely dipped in December, but don't forget that he also rolled his ankle pretty good in the middle of the month and probably came back a little bit too early from that, only missing one game. In the first three games after he came back, he only shot 41% from the floor and 27% from three which hurt his numbers for the month pretty well.

Once he got past that injury, he had a really strong January. And he's still only shooting a career low 13% of his shot attempts from 16-23 feet.

Those are statistics. His metrics have been declining.

Vucevic's eFG% at the end of each month:
Oct: .608
Nov: .590
Dec: .565
Jan: .555

His eFG% up to Dec. 1: .590
His eFG% since Dec. 1: .530

Vucevic's TS% at the end of each month:
Oct: .639
Nov: .620
Dec: .590
Jan: .572

His TS% up to Dec. 1: .620
His TS% since Dec. 1: .537
Vucevic's career TS%: .533
League average TS%: .558
Orlando Magic TS%: .540
Fournier's TS% since Dec. 1: .547

He hasn't been particularly efficient since the first couple months of the season, but his season statistics are still buoyed by those first couple months. There is no doubt that his efficiency metrics are regressing towards the mean. The important question regards what that mean is. If the new mean is the same as the old mean, an extension would quickly become a huge problem.

He's "settling" for more shots in the paint. Oops.

I said I suspect. I don't know why his efficiency has plummeted. I only know that it has. I'd certainly like to see the source for your data to try to discern why. Shots in the paint can be mid-range jumpers by the way.
