would have to include Nic right?

I dont know how to feel, on one hand he would be our 2nd best player easily. but on the other he is older and expensive.

This is bothersome.

I’m worried we are going to attach a bunch of good assets to get him (Bridges, Monk, 1st round picks....)

He expires after next season, so that should bring his price down. I think.

Marc + Green for Nic, Cody 2 1sts.

For salaries to match, there is anyway one bad contract that goes away (probably Biz, that would be the most logical).

Since next year for Gasol is a player option, i doubt the price is that high. If its something like Biyombo+Miles, seriously it's a no brainer.

If it's more than some combo of Biz/Batum/Marv/Frank + a 1st I'm not sure I'm that interested. Monk and Miles are worth more than a rental.

We’re probably the only team that would trade a 1st for Gasol because of Batum since they got the only contract that’s worse in Parsons so it makes sense.

They are about to be in rebuild mode and getting a extra 1st rounder is beneficial to that. Batum and Parsons contracts should help them meet the salary floor around rookie contracts.

We will have to see what the deal actually is if it happens. In theory I'm OK with this though. Worst case is that Kemba takes off anyway and the team is stuck with Gasol for a year with him gone.

Best case is that this move makes a real difference for the team in the post-season this year and Kemba stays.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Gasol has a PO - it's potentially dangerous if Charlotte can't talk to him before hand and gets assurances he'll opt in.

My guess is that Memphis is trying to squeeze one of Monk or Miles out of us along with Batum & the 1st rounder for Gasol and 2 of their bench players like Casspi, Mack, Brooks, or Rabb. I hope Kupchak don’t cave.

If they are trying to make salaries match, that should say it all... It's about fillers around either one of the young (Monk or Miles) or Biyombo + filler + pick(s)
They are not taking Batum. A third team could, but it would be stupid even for the Hornets to do it. Casspi can't replace Batum and Parsons as well (they are way worst defenders, that says it all).

If it could be Gasol/Anderson for Batum +filler on the other hand, that would be amazing. But i dont see it happen.

Giving up miles/monk this early would be a mistake

Something tells me that we wouldn’t mind too much if he opt out. This is a Batum salary dump /slash/ all-in for a playoff run this year to keep Kemba move /slash/ if we can’t keep Kemba then Gasol opting out clears more cap space until the bad contracts like Marvin, Cody, and MKG are off the books.

I could be talked into sending Monk or Bridges somewhere this season, but not in a deal like this.

I agree with catch, feels like this is a Batum + 1st for Gasol deal and we're arguing about the rest of the package
