Re: Anthony Davis requests trade, part 3
I'm a simpleton so my read on this is:
- Davis wanted to team up with Kyrie (and possibly KD too?) in New York.
- Davis still wants to team up with Kyrie.
- Kyrie would rather stop playing basketball than team up with Lebron again.
- Lakers/Lebron, knowing this, are pushing desperately for a deal before the deadline.
- With Knicks and Lakers out of the picture, Boston becomes the most logical place for Davis to team up with Kyrie.
- CHAMPIONSHIPS!!

I feel like Memphis will trade us that pick for our future Grizz pick once it doesn't convey this year.
I don’t like that idea. Personally I throw everything and the kitchen sink at Davis this year outside of that pick. Hold onto it and then you can use it to acquire a third guy down the line when Hayward is an expiring and Horford starts to truly decline.

New article from Steve Bulpett. If this little tidbit is true, then Rich Paul and Lebron are even dumber than we thought.

2 things:
1. Putting pressure on Magic? He has nothing else to trade. Unless you want him to throw in a few Magic Johnson theaters and Starbucks franchises.
2. Paul and Lebron think they're slick, but this is god damn Danny Ainge who they're bidding against. This isn't Dan Gilbert. This isn't Pat the Rat. This is Danny Ainge!!

Though many in the league saw Monday’s ESPN story that Davis had given the Pelicans the names of four teams he’d consider staying with if traded there (Lakers, Clippers, Milwaukee, New York) as trying to make New Orleans think the Celtics would back away because they were not mentioned, others saw it differently. And all are still looking closely at the maneuvering by Davis’ agent, Rich Paul, who is, of course, also LeBron’s representative.
“I think they did that to put pressure on the Lakers,” said one general manager. “I think Paul and LeBron want to get this done now, because they’re afraid of Boston getting him [Davis] later on. I think they’re trying to push Magic [Johnson] and them to bid by putting it out there that there are other teams Davis likes.”

Re: Anthony Davis requests trade, part 3
But according to teams that have spoken to them, the Celts may be looking more at players around the edges, rather than at more significant deals, as Thursday’s trade deadline approaches.
In fact, they could be more active in the buyout market later, if, as most anticipate, a roster spot will become free when the Jabari Bird situation is adjudicated by the league office.
For now, from all accounts by opposing clubs, the Celtics seem to be most willing to ride this season out, believing that their recent success is a sign they’re still improving and closing in on being able to ably compete for a trip to The Finals this season and take their chances there. One general manager who had interest in Terry Rozier was rebuffed by the C’s, though there’s room to question what his team was willing to offer for a player headed toward restricted free agency this summer.
“You’d think Boston would be willing to move one or two younger guys and get more experienced,” said one exec. “But it’s hard to get away from young guys on good contracts when you already have [Kyrie] Irving, [Gordon] Hayward and [Al] Horford on big deals. And then you’re trying to get AD [Anthony Davis], too, and what’s that going to cost? At some point, I guess you have to look at the bottom line and not be crazy.”
Meanwhile, though reports of the Lakers pulling away from talks with the Pelicans certainly appear to be true in the moment, no one around the league is seeing that as anything more than a temporary stance.
“I can see why L.A. is getting all frustrated, thinking that they’re bidding against themselves,” said one Western Conference head of basketball operations. “But that’s not really true. What they’re bidding against is what New Orleans thinks it can get from Boston this summer, and as long as that’s out there — as long as Ainge is telling them he’ll be bidding in the offseason — New Orleans can’t be happy with what L.A. is throwing out there.”
As regards Davis, the Celtics have no choice other than to be patient. But, from the word of others, it would seem they’re being the same with their roster as presently constituted. For now, anyway.

I'm not sold on throwing everything at AD just for him to leave in a season. Plus hes made of glass.

Although I suspect no big trades will occur by the deadline--it just always seems to be the case, I wonder why NO would want to hold onto Davis any longer. The guy is very injury prone (30 in 6 seasons including back spasms) and would have to play out the rest of this season. Right now his value is through the roof, why risk this? esp. given the LA offer?

Memphis is gonna trade us a top 5 pick just to remove the possibility it might be a top 5 pick in two years?
And unless there's a player Danny really likes, why does he do that? For davis?
I would do that. If it meant a lesser package for Davis.
I would too but I dont see how or why Memphis does.

Agreed. Weird things can happen. Tatum can get injured. Brown. Who the hell knows. That LA offer is more than enough.

Tell you what fellas...we lose on AD its all good. Kyrie Irving wants to bold. Hold the door open. F them all. You find players that will bleed Green like Paul Pierce, Isaiah Thomas, KG etc. Enough of these pre madonnas not wanting to play in Boston. First Durant then AD. Its like we are some dump ? Mfkers this is Boston, Massachusetts where champions are made. LA and rest can have better weather no taxes but they do not have SOUL AND PASSION and ownership that we New Englanders do. I wont lose any sleep if AD goes to LA

Re: Anthony Davis requests trade, part 3
They're going to shut Davis down. And even if Tatum gets hurt, NOP still benefits from giving the rest of the league time to strategize. The draft lottery results can only help bring options into focus - other teams can plot trades, clear cap space.. So far we've only heard about New York, LA, and Boston - there are 26 other teams, multi-team trade scenarios. The best thing for New Orleans is to be putting minimal energy into Davis deals right now and maximal energy into the markets for all of their other players, especially Mirotic and Randle.

WHAT A CHUMP
Yeah LMAO at what AD thinks.
Until he gets traded to Boston, Ainge blows his load and then AD bolts to LA in the offseason. Then people will care about what AD thinks as the reality of dark times ahead become reality. Now he is liking LA trade offers. And yet still, people here will trade everything for the dude. I haven't ever seen anything quite like it.
It is almost like these people are in denial. Might he change his mind? Sure anything can happen. Anything can happen also isn’t great and not what gets you to trade the farm.
I know I speak for a lot of posters here when I say that it's mindboggling to see you continually refuse to acknowledge that Davis is motivated to let word get out that he doesn't want to go to Boston because it's the only way he gets traded this week.
You are swallowing whole the message that AD doesn't want to play in Boston when the real message is that AD prefers to be traded this week. Fortunately, some people are getting the real message.
Why is it, do you think, that Ainge doesn't agree with you that Davis is unlikely to resign? Do you know better than him? You seem very sure of yourself that the best GM in the business is "in denial."
I certainly do not disagree with any sentiment where Ainge KNOWS best, with regard to AD signing a nice extension in Boston .. my problem with Davis is that he is using his status, also tied to LeBron status, to impose his will (to be traded this week) onto NOLA and rest of the league !
I don't think the NBA can 'prove' james' involvement but I would hand down a HEAVY PENALTY onto AD for what he has done .. something that would deter this negligent underhanded crap for good !
Suspending him a for a year while voiding his contract payout would go a very long way !! Give NOLa compensatory considerations and see how LeBron feels about his buddy suffering this stiff precedent knowing that he played a HUGE role there
This crap has to stop in order to protect small/smaller market NBA .. appalling !

The 2020 draft is supposed to be better than this one, and 2021 better than that. He does it if that’s what New Orleans wants.
Was rumored that the Pelicans prefer picks after 2019, IIRC.

Laker fans realizing that if they had drafted Tatum instead of Ball, they would have AD by now.
To be fair, they never really had a chance for that. We don't make that trade if LA not all-in on Ball.

This is madness.
That's hard to do since hes hardly ever on the court
Davis averages 68 games played a season, and 34 mpg.
One of the selling points for Danny to make to AD is that coming to Boston will actually be very good for his career long term. The depth we have here means that they can cut down on his minutes in the regular season. If he goes to what will remain of the Lakers (mostly a g-league team) he’ll be forced to play 36+ min every night since they’ll have very few options aside from him and whats left of LeBron’s body. Coming to Boston is a far better long term move for him on a number of levels.
