Has to be a push for Anthony Davis, right? That Miami pick..
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Congratulations, your front office just hit this trade out of the park. It's a great deal, Davis or not.

Momo says the 76ers 2020 #1 is lotto protected for 3 years, then turns into two 2nds.

The tweets of many a Clipper-hater in Twitter-ville:
But even then, people forget of Jerry West.
(Sorry for the tweet flood, guys. But this I had to do. Motivation.)

Re: Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic & Mike Scott Traded to 76ers
The path to two max slots this summer is becoming more and more clear. Tobi didn't block that path, but not having to account for his cap hold clears a way for the Clippers to make a deal to free up the cap needed for two max deals. Gallo package this summer now looks quite doable, considering our extra assets.

Re: Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic & Mike Scott Traded to 76ers
if you saw Tobias as already gone, it's a why not
keeping Tobias on hold this summer while we were REALLY pursuing Kawhi and KD--and maybe Kyrie and even Butler too--was gonna be massively tricky, perhaps impossible
and none of us really thinks Tobias is worth the max anyway--he would be a consolation prize
nice farewell

bring on the tank

Accumulating Assets for AD?
I like Tobias Harris a lot, but I was concerned that we'd have to overpay significantly in order to retain him should we miss out in free agency and I wasn't really looking forward to that. I was hoping that we could convince the Pelicans to take Tobias with the understanding that they could re-sign him with a max offer, but now these acquired picks have me thinking that we're putting together a package for Anthony Davis.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is already looking better than Lonzo Ball, who the Pelicans supposedly like as a PG prospect, and Jerome Robinson is a really good-looking shooter who's under the radar because Doc hasn't really played him enough to showcase his abilities. While I hope it doesn't come to this, the Clippers have two recent lottery picks from the 2018 NBA Draft and possibly another lottery selection in the upcoming proceedings if we miss the playoffs--which is more likely with Tobias now gone--to go along with two future first-round picks that we just acquired. The Pelicans have to be salivating at our assets right now. I hope that we can at least retain Shai, though.
I figured the Logo was working quietly behind the scenes in putting together a deal for Anthony Davis but this trade seems to be a public statement that something is getting close to being done. To be fair, I'm guessing Lawrence Frank is doing the legwork on this pursuit but Jerry West has to be in his ear and looking over his shoulder while he's doing it.
The funny thing is that, while unlikely, we still could conceivably sign Tobias as a free agent if we miss out in free agency and his price tag is not too high.

I actually figured that we'd deal Mike Scott to the Sixers in a package for a first-round pick+. I just didn't anticipate it to be at such a large magnitude.
Ranma wrote:If the Sixers are interested in a Mike Scott type, why not go after the real thing from the Clippers? They've reportedly also inquired about Jeremy Lin as well. I've previously proposed sending Avery Bradley to Philadelphia for Zhaire Smith and Furkan Korkmaz so I'd definitely be interested in putting together a package of Scott and Bradley for Smith, Korkmaz and a future first-round selection.
...
Sean Deveney, Sporting News (1/11/19)The Sixers are another team willing to part with this year’s pick for immediate shooting help, as Philly looks for a big man who can shoot, along the lines of Mike Scott, Frank Kaminsky or Noah Vonleh. The Sixers gave up Dario Saric in the Jimmy Butler deal and miss his ability to stretch the floor.
Philadelphia did acquire Miami’s 2021 pick in the deal with the Suns for Mikal Bridges, but the Sixers have kept that pick out of trade discussions. Should the Heat unravel in the next couple of years, that pick will have increased value.

Resign Blake Griffin and turn him into a T.Harris rental and a boatload of picks. Well played Jerry West well played!

LOL if we could trade Gallo to an Eastern playoff rival looking to keep up with the Sixers...
Considering the likelihood we wouldn’t be able to agree on an acceptable contract with Tobias, this is an amazing haul and we all bow at the throne of the master. We also get to keep our 1st the year.
We got a lot for Blake Griffin in retrospect...

Sixers fan here. I come in peace. I'm happy with the trade for my team which is in win-now mode but I thought your team made out well too. Chandler and Muscala are ok in spurts though nothing special and are on expiring deals. It sucks giving up that Miami pick which may either be used to acquire a player like AD in a trade (I'd much rather see him land with the Clippers than the Celtics or Lakers) or if you decide to keep it may be a really good prospect in 2021. The hidden gem in this deal though is Shamet whose instant 3 point shooting off the bench you're gonna love. Us Sixers fans will be sad to see him go. Good luck!
