Don’t see it happening.

Feels like Miami have a heap of injuries and are trash this year and they are still looking at pick 15.

Pat Riley wouldn’t let his team slip to bottom 5.

I think 10 would be the best case scenario and it’s lost value over the last 12 months with the NBA pushing back the high school draft year to 2022.

Realistically anything can happen but it’s most likely going to be around a 10-15 pick in 2021 unless Miami blow it up (seems unlikely knowing Pat Riley’s history).

Also the fact they are in the super weak east where the bottom teams don’t look to be getting better anytime soon, there’s a strong chance they could still be playing playoffs in 2 years.

He would be a lottery pick if you redrafted this class.

We'll see.
Think everyone thought the same about the 2018 LA pick (Sixers) or the 2019 SAC pick (Boston).

A lot can happen in 2 seasons. Miami has some interesting young players (Winslow, Richardson, Adebayo, ...) and there's still a 2020 summer free agency before the 2021 draft.

And its generally unwise to bet against Pat Riley. He put himself in this mess, sure, but good chance he can get himself out of it. (I mean they're 8th seed somehow this season, sure its 24-27, buts is the 8th seed).

Harris is 26 and averages 21/8/3/1 on 49/42/88 shooting (4.6 3’s attempted per game)

Gay is 32 and averages 14/7/3/1 on 52/41/87 shooting (2.5 3’s attempted per game)

Not even close..
Harris is the #1 option on the clippers and now he will be 4th. His scoring will fall to 14-15 ppg.

Dragic for Miami 2018, Miami 2021, Cole
Harris for Philadelphia 2020, Miami 2021, Shamet

How come Jerry West gets credit but Ryan McDonough only got bagged.

How did West get two firsts for that lol??

Hard to imagine Philly keeping everyone though. Maxing Harris, Butler and Simmons as well as Embiid's max means they're paying the biggest tax bill in the league for four guys.

Isn't Miami selling though and forever shopping Whiteside etc? JJ and others aging. Which players will keep them fighting for the playoffs? Richardson+Winslow+Bam+Olynyk is their young talent and that's not enough to lead that team to more than 35 wins IMO.

In hindsight it wasn't that great given how he turned out, but the Deron Williams trade was the most silent blockbuster trade I can recall in the past ten years, after the entire basketball world sat through months and months of Melo to New York talks. At the time Deron was a borderline superstar who was just a notch below Chris Paul.

Another thing is......for all the talent Embiid and Simmons have, they don’t always play nice with each other let alone others.

This is a lot of egos in that locker room.

Good luck Brett Brown because you are going to cop the blame here ignore we can’t at least make conference.

Simmons & Embiid are fine 99% of the time

Ben & Jimmy seem happy enough as well

And we have received no indication that our owners have the stomach for luxury tax payments. Not sure they have thought this through.

With his shooting ability it’s much more likely that he benefits similarly to how Redick has.

Guess the Sixers want to clear playing time for Zhaire Smith, and as good as Shamet was offensively his defense was absolutely dreadful which is Smith's calling card.

To be honest it just allows Butler and Simmons to lock down on D more and Harris is most likely the 2nd option on offense.

He is better than both of those guys at shooting at nearly every area of the court.

Simmons probably takes a few less shots, Harris picks up Shamet+Chandler’s production and Butler a couple less shots too.

He is literally a perfect fit to that roster with his effiency and 3 point shooting on a solid amount of attempts.

Can’t see him dropping down below 17 PPG and will be doing it on near 50/40/90 with 4-5 3’s attempted per game. Absolutely perfect for that team.

I’m sure the owners gave some sort of indication before the trade was made.

I wasn't following the league back then so I can't really comment on that. I started watching during (and due to) the lockout.

How happy is Tobs going to be as a 4th option? Dudes like to showcase their offence going into FA not being turned into role players.

Overpay.

But...

If Philly really believe that Butler and Harris will resign, that's a damn scary team for the long term and they have a bunch of positive assets still which they can blow it up or retool with if it doesn't work out.

This trade makes no sense for phi. Embiid and Butler at times have both questioned their roles in offense so they give up multiple 1sts for another kinda high usage player???
