They needed the shooting from the wing, plus you need to factor in Butler insurance.
If Butler tries for the full, 5-year max, then the sixers and dump Fultz and have a max spot while keeping Tobias's cap hold (22M).

Kemba and Kris Middleton would be great backup plans if Butler gets a little cheeky.
Hell, a Mirotic and Danny Green combo sign would damn impressive too

This was a great deal for LAC. They never intended to resign Harris to the $$$ the will command, they are going big w/ FA signings or punting their cap space, which is always the best move (Unless you have established guys and need that last dude to push your team over the edge, like PHI, which is why this is a decent deal for them too).

The ammo they got in this deal can help them get AD. West is so good at this.

I'd say they're tanking this year, and will use the offseason to sign who they can, and their future firsts to trade for who they can. Nice setup and I'm thinking the Clips will be an interesting team from next year on. Crazy good haul for Harris.

He's a bit of a better shooter from 3 but ya that's the vibe I get too. They made a pretty lateral move as far as spacing is concerned. I wonder if they redo the Butler trade knowing that they get Tobias. Their cap situation means one of their acquisitions is walking this year

Do the clippers have some axe to grind with the c's? If not they still unintentionally got them by the jewels. It's almost insurance for the pels what just happened. The c's almost have to offer Tatum because LAC is sitting there and can make a serious offer and have the promise of an extension from the AD camp, and they will have less picks. If the clips decide to just get AD on some 'bird in the hand' stuff, then the c's could really break up if Kyrie also leaves because Boston could not get AD. Boston could be devastated by this move. They cannot F around.
