he has one with uncle dennis.

and i guess you're saying get AD, then get KD or kyrie instead of possibly getting none of the above?

i'm saying the clippers are not gonna steal durant and we're not stealing kwahi. i think those positions are set. those guys either stay where they are or come to the teams they're rumored to go to.

after that getting ad will be based on who can out together the best package for him, obviously.

but getting kyrie will be based on personal relationships. and so i don't think the clippers are even in the running for him. plus, does he wanna be on l.a.'s 2nd team while bron is on the 1st ? doubt it.

the possibility of anybody getting all 3 is very very slim to me. i just don't see it working out. for anyone.

Isn’t Kyrie also close with Durant? Plus, in NY, Kyrie can claim “homecoming” and be Batman or at worst Batman 1A

i don't even know that kawhi is in the team up business. i don't know that he thinks that way. i thinks it's about being comfortable for him. if he decides he's comfortable in toronto he'll stay. if not he'll go home because it's home. not because the clips are putting together a super team necessarily.

In a recent interview with The Athletic's Shams Charania, Durant revealed three players who've really impressed him while watching film, and one of them is Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving.

“Kobe (Bryant), MJ (Michael Jordan) and Kyrie,” Durant said. “Just the way they move, I don’t understand why people don’t realize what they’re seeing in these three, especially Jordan and Kobe. Kyrie is younger than me, and that’s one of my best friends, so I watch his stuff. I get to play with Steph every day so I know his game inside and out. But watching Kobe and Mike, I’m like, ‘How do you not realize how good these dudes are?’ How do you not say they’re by far better than anybody who’s played the game? Just by the way they move, how fluid they are."

Most valuable franchise yet we are the worst team in the NBA? Imagine if we were a perennial contender?

i get that impression of kawhi too. and i am most confident about kawhi to clippers than any of the other FA scenarios we predict.

i think the problem is it wouldn't matter that much.

we'd have to be yankees status to really have that much more of a hold on the market. i think we're so valuable because of a combination of market, being an original franchise, and being a spectacle good or bad.

This.

Plus, KD called Kawhi a system player a long while back. Kawhi is still mad about that (basically one of those that holds a grudge for a long time). He isn't coming here, at least not with KD being here.

He's also close with AD and remember at the beginning of the year there were rumors that Kyrie and J.Butler wanted to play together somewhere and we of course were on here talking about us getting the Kyrie/Butler duo. A lot of these guys are friends cause most of them have played together on multiple Olympic teams.

Young player heading into restricted FA.
His cap hold wouldve only been $4.75million, which wouldn't have effected 2 Max Cats.
Went for only a Svi and a 2021 second round pick.
I wouldve offered a 2019 2nd round pick at the minimum

You're not factoring in the $9 million we'll have to pay to whomever we draft.

Actually, the $9M is only the cap hold for the number 1 pick.
It’s less for pick 2, 3, 4, etc.
And those are only cap holds. If we get the pick signed before free agency, the cap hold lessens to the actually salary. No rookie gets $9M per off rip.

nah, it's getting there. deandre ayton got over $8m this season. cap will be higher. it will be a higher percentage of said cap.

those prices are pretty much fixed for first rounders, not negotiated. second rounders negotiate.

Meh 10 days ago, If it was a week gotta actually call it a week, cuz the KP trade was a week ago, and if said all of this on the day KP got traded I would be on the hype train, but I can't buy KD joining a 10 win team yet as bad as I want it to happy :-?

Here's hoping Kawhi Leonard doesn't hold grudges.

Kevin Durant essentially called him a system player in June 2014. He then followed that comment with your run-of-the-mill non-apology. This all happened just after Leonard earned Finals MVP honors. Which, yikes.

However!

Durant was singing a different tune by March 2016. He made it clear Leonard wasn't a system player. All was well...for like a second.

"No, I don't," Durant said in 2016 when asked whether he regrets his comments from 2014. "I mean, at the time, you know, I didn't even call him a system player. I just said Paul George was better. I liked Paul George better as a player. I could be a fan of the game, too. One of my guys was debating with me and said that [Leonard] was better than Paul George at the time, and I didn't think so. I'm not taking it back. I said that the system is the reason why he's out there—you know, [Gregg Popovich] put him in great positions to be the player that he is. So, no, I don't regret it at all."

Oh.

But also: Pish posh. Durant's second non-apology was almost three years ago. It's water under the bridge. Even though Kawhi's idle Twitter account was created in 2014, we can't be sure he knew social media existed before 2018.

Anyway, that Durant stuff happened a lifetime ago in NBA years. It isn't enough to derail this pick. Short of a trade for Anthony Davis after striking gold in free agency—which is logistically possible—no other potential duo would give the Knicks a realistic shot at housing two top-five players. It really is that simple.

New York can figure out the "But neither one is a point guard!" obstacle later. Durant has looked the part of a point forward more than ever this season, and the Knicks can snag a veteran floor general on the cheap—someone like George Hill, perhaps, who'll most likely be waived by the Milwaukee Bucks.
