Johnson can ball, albeit expensive he can still put up numbers.

I'm confused why Miami does this, isn't Dragic out still?

Too many bad contracts i dont understand why they matched his contract to begin with

The Heat are trying to lower their luxury tax bill by throwing in Ellington, but I’m surprised they couldn’t find a 3rd team to move him too and give the Suns a pick or a marginal prospect.

Eillington has value. Seems like a waste to have him there as a throw in to relieve cap.

Prob odd ones out in PHX too. Hope it doesnt take minutes from Mikal and Melton

It would make sense for PHO to trade Ellington...a lot of teams are looking for shooters and they could snatch a decent asset...

Ellington will go to FA, with PHX cutting him.

The tax bill in Miami will drop from $9.7M to $1.7M after the Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington trade to Phoenix. The Heat could see that figure drop if Kelly Olynyk misses out on his $1M bonus for playing 1700 minutes. The forward is not on pace to reach the incentive. Miami will create a $6.27M trade exception with the trade.
Nice! :)

I’m not going to lie....as a Phoenix supporter from Brooklyn wanting to see them succeed. This is a disappointing use of Anderson’s contract. Why not wait to see what happens with Rubio and Conley first? Even Jordan Clarkson would’ve been a better fit if they were to go this route.

Why not LAL. Been there, and also was a teammate of Luke Walton in CLE 1 season if I am not wrong.

I guess the Heat will dump Jones Jr or Mcgruder to get under. Still a weird trade to me.

We are not interested in Conley. Rubio can be signed in free agency.

It was out of spite. You can look up the quotes but the Heat felt insulted that the Nets were "poaching" their player, so even though they didn't have the talent development / game plan in place to try and get the most out of Tyler Johnson's skills, they matched the contract that Tyler signed with the Nets anyway and then do to some archaic NBA rules the structure of the contract changed from a (more or less) flat $12 million a year to the monstrous deal that Tyler is on today...

Those two guys are ballers though, especially DJJ who is a 2nd-tier prospect. The Heat would like to at least hold on to him. McGruder is a FA this summer but has been productive on a valuable minimum contract.

TJ is a productive combo guard and should be a good fit in Phoenix. The guard situation being too crowded and competitive in Miami and his contract are the only reasons he had to go.

Money talks bro. It's just a trivial salary dump.
