Well, they're expiring contracts. In typical Ernie fashion, the expiring contracts come in the form of young players with a high pick pedigree, so EG can act like it's not a flat out dump of Porter. But it is.

I'm disappointed he couldn't do better than expiring contracts. Wouldn't Sacramento at least throw in a 2nd round pick?

Only saved $3.5M. He couldn't even get out from the luxtax in the transaction.

Tank is rolling. People say it's a good deal, but is it?

I like Portis, he is actually fine player to have on roster. Parker is like a unfulfilled talent who everybody expected to be better but really isn't.

He's got 30 games to audition.

So far in his career, Portis has essentially been the worst defense big man in the league. Unless that changes, I'm not enthused about resigning him.

I'm positive Utah would have offered expirings and a first + smaller assets.

Bobby Portis and Satoransky reunion (when Portis almost killed him).

Im done. Portis is Markieff Morris with bad defense...Below average efficiency and a black hole on offense.

Unbelievable... We traded Otto Porter and didnt get an asset or out of the Tax

That’s all we got back? Couldn’t even get a pick? Not even a 2nd? I **** hate Ernie so much. Unbelievable he still has a job after 16 years of incompetence. 16 years of this sh*t. Officially done with this franchise until he’s gone.

I'd describe Portis as a Carlos Boozer type of player. Defensively he's bad, but it's more because of a lack of athleticism and length than effort. He's pretty good on the boards.

Offensively he's got an effective post game and range out to 3, but has a tendency to be a bit of a black hole.

That's another deal to... get rid of someone with BAD CONTRACT by the board rather than trying to improve the team.

Who says it's a good deal?

I think it stinks. Or rather, I think EG could have done better. Instead of getting expiring contracts with enough "potential" to fool fans, I think he could have gotten worthless expiring contracts plus at least a pair of 2nd round picks.

But we all know they're going to tout this as an opportunity to get a couple of talented young players. It's all bunk. They'd be foolish to opt in on the team option for Jabari at $20M. So all they really got was Bird Rights on a bench player who can't defend (Portis).

What a complete panic move.

There were other options to avoid the luxtax. There was NO NEED to force this deal now. This summer, there are going to be a half-dozen teams with cap room who strike out on the few max caliber free agents available. We could trade Porter to any of those teams if we wanted to.
