its a tough discussion because here's the thing. Zion at best is a 14% chance (at best). If we don't get the #1 pick the rest of these guys in the draft are meh...do you take that risk now?

There is zero urgency for the Knicks to do this now, similar to how there isn't any urgency for NO to anything with Davis.

Knox + top 4 protected pick is the most I'd offer now.

the only urgency for the knicks do it now is that if KD says get me a 2nd star and I will come and maybe we don't want to trust Kyrie because he changes his mind every second.

now im not suggesting we should.

This could just be NOP leaking it so the lakers panic and offer even more....because we know we don't leak sh*t.

I really want no part of AD. I wish he'd just disappear lol. I don't want us to go after him since we'd have to gut our team but I don't want him with the Lakers (F LeBron) or the Celtics (F the entire franchise and city).

if we trade for ad now, the pick won't be as good. so they won't do it now. with ad, we could go .500 in the east for the rest of the year with how weak the east is.

we still aren't passing the #4 spot in the draft so maybe they still think that is a better asset then anything the Lakers are giving them right now (which is likely)

Pelicans are in a tough spot because they also have to weigh David getting hurt or teams moving on an not getting the same offer in the offseason.

Its all a game. I'm not suggesting doing it...but if its not Zion, I am not thrilled with this draft class.

i'm not either but i don't think it's happening now. ad coming out with that info about us is probably because he knows the lakers can't make it happen so he's moving his attention to us now. but i don't think the pelicans are gonna do it. i love that he keeps reminding the celtics he doesn't want them tho. If AD assures you KD and/or Kyrie, you give up a farm. We've been waiting to pair up a combo like that since... forever. If Boston gets AD, we're not gonna look good. Also, if you're Perry, you have to think about your job. If you can get AD, his job is safe and he's a legend. If the Knicks go the other route, Boston gets AD and we miss out on all of the FAs, at a minimum, his reputation takes a big hit. You go and get AD now and let the big name/cap space lure in a second mega star. He'd be a legend PR wise and the team would be good.

Question: If the Knicks make no more trades but waive Mathews and Kanter, who would you want to sign? I assume we'd focus on forwards.

#5 spot... the lottery changed. They pick the top 4 spots now. The Knicks have a 48% chance of ending up with the 5th pick. Their odds have them at pick 3.7.... the Knicks picked the worst possible year to have the worst record.

If he promises a big FA like KD or something, I agree, the farm has to go

Idk, Lakers have already offered everything except LeBron. They know that deal isn't going anywhere.....lakers are desperate.

The thing with us is we need to know what our pick is. if we landed #1, I'd certainly offer future picks for davis if I know Durant is coming too. This isn't about being fair to me. Pels are not getting fair value from anyone.

Not technically. We don’t have to give up all youth if we trade now. We have Wes & Kanter for those reasons. Lance Thomas too.

Give up half the youth, expirings & picks.
2019 pick, Knox, Frank, Mudiay, Lance, Kanter & the unprotected Dallas pick.
Leave enough to keep 1 max open for KD.

Sign DeAndre to MLE.

DSJr/Trier
Dotson/Trier
KD
AD
Jordan/Mitch

Since Pelicans is in the business for asking teams for promises, we can promise to sit AD out most of or all of the rest of this season. To promise them a top 5 pick by having the worst record (since the lowest we could fall is 5 having the worst record). :D

Not entirely true. We could complete a sign & trade or KD/Kyrie could each agree to 2 mill less than the max. There's other ways.. but you're right that we couldn't flat out offer 3 max contracts.
