thats disappointing but it'd be more disappointing if we didn't have DSJ. I don't think this takes us out of play for KD, and hopefully Perry/Mills can pivot and try to land Kawhi as the #2.

Personally I would love to trade for Beal (if the price is right)

If Smith is a PG we can roll with, you can hunt KD/Kahwi instead. I think maxing out Kyrie will end in disaster anyway.

I personally think DSJ can be that guy; his upside is high. Too many are quick too give up on guys in there first couple seasons (happened with D'Angelo Russell, now he's thriving Year 4). It takes time for guards to develop, but usually by Year 3 or 4 they find their groove

I'm intrigued and open-minded to Smith. He has ability and something to prove and he's an alpha. I get it that Frank is more beta and we will need the alpha energy to lead the team. I'm patient enough to find out if Smith is that guy while supporting Frank in his development too because I continue to see him being impactful in his own way.

Checked on google -- Harrison getting traded to the kangz. That expression on the bench...priceless

Just happy to see that after KP leaves, DSJ has become the center of delusion around here.

Kyrie or DSJ? Please tell me you all are joking.

No. Kyrie will end in tears, just like KP will for the Mavs. Maxing them out is a super risky move for any team. Kyrie can miss the playoffs any given year with his fragility. And that takes precedence in my mind over how talented he is.

The Mavs couldn't even buy Carmelo into whatever it was they were doing.

no clue, but it would be nice. I'm usually an advocate for building organically through the draft, but when generational talents like AD and KD can be had, I think you have to try to make it happen (IMO trading for AD guarantees another star in FA). Those 2 alone make the Knicks a contender

Wow..... all these deals show me that it was a seller's market and that we got robbed for KP like I had originally thought

If the 2019 pick is the clear centerpiece to an AD deal I am all aboard dealing it, even with wanting Zion so badly it gives me agita. AD is on that level, and the 14% chance is so awful when you really get down to it.

If you can't isolate the 2019 pick as the clear centerpiece of the deal then it's a different story.

to be fair I just don't think they want to give in the lakers...its almost like they would be willing to accept a lower offer from someone else just to not send him to LA.

My sense too. And I totally appreciate how they feel. Like Lebron and the Lakers waving this guy over to their table. Nonsense.
I dunno.

the only way you can do that is to give up the cap space. and then it becomes 2 things you give up. an ad trade is very costly.

What other deal netted 2 first rounders, a young player and cleared room?
