1) One legitimate organization (Macs) has entered the max contract convo (they now have 32 to 37 mil in cap space) = more competition

2) If they end up using that cap space nicely, those 2021 and 2023 picks will not be pretty for us

i'd love to know the rules on this. marshawn was getting fined in the NFL. not sure how the NBA plays this. if there's no official policy, there may need to be. you don't want your marquee stars not contributing to the press machine that helps pay the bills.

I'm of two minds on this topic:
1. I do have reservations about KD dealing with how aggressive both fans and media in NYC can be. I've seen NY chew up and spit out people with a lot of talent (Randy Johnson from the second he got off the plane always comes to mind). I think that's just something we're all aware of at this point and KD hasn't handled scrutiny as well as he could...though that last video isn't so bad imo.

2. That said, I think KD coming to NYC would give him instant good will similar to Amare and Melo when they arrived. KD is coming from a place that had homegrown allstars whereas the Knicks just made a trade that leaves NY in a completely different position. I have a feeling he'd be largely embraced with a good length of honeymoon period having jumped to a team that had the worst record in the league last year. Could it get ugly? Of course, but I think there'd be time and I have a feeling that Mills and Perry would catch the heat faster than KD thanks to moves like kicking Bondy out of pressers and trading KP to dump THJ's contract that Mills handed out.

Knicks life:

Finally tank right in a year that the lotto format has the largest odds against you.

Clear room for Max Cats when 4 other teams have room for 2 max cats. 3 days later, at least 3 other teams open up significant cap space. And as usual the Lakers and Celtics are major destinations with assets for trades and/or cap space.

Go Knicks. Rah!

Knicks always figure sh*t out about two years too late.

Once again, it's a couple of years before the Knicks are really ready for anything but fanbase has convinced itself every top FA is beating down the door to come here, when there are tons of signs they want the Clippers or LA or to just stay put.
Granted there are solid Durant rumors, but let's be honest, who knows?

And can all the Zion scenarios. Dude is getting drafted by someone else.

Let's see if the Knicks figured it out too late or not. The Knicks will have figured it out right on time IF we keep cap space and go for low cost high value/payoff deals when everyone else - upon striking out - throws big money at questionable players. The Knicks will have figured it out if we take on one year contracts with young assets and reboot to 2020 free agency with a better idea of what we have in our youth.

The Knicks may have figured it out whether we get KD or not. The question is not what if everything goes perfectly, it is how we act if everything does not go perfectly. I can't hate on the Knicks for swinging on KD and Kyrie, or KD and Leonard, but I can if our backup plan is not to continue with a proper rebuild.

I am fully okay with our roster next year being:

Robinson/Kornet/Vonleh
Zion/Vonleh/Knox
Knox/Dotson
Doston/Trier
DSJ/Ntilikina/Trier

Plus a ton of free agency money in 2020.

Based on tampering fine, imagine it's peanuts. KD must easily make +1mn per RS game so 10k a game for not talking is easy for piece of mind.
