Still have work to do on that shot. I don't think he had 1 amazing shooting night all season. I think he's best shooting was around .700 from the field and then he had a couple of .600. But he never really caught fire for a whole game.

I'm not sure what's wrong, because he looks like a good shooter, but he often has those inefficient games. If that shot becomes consistent, he'll be top 10 in the league right away and average 28/8/8.

Lol those are top5 numbers :D .. But yeah he shot lights out against CLE and couldn't hit an ocean tonight. You can clearly see he is just 19yo... I mean just with consistency in his shot his production will sky rocket. So much for "low ceiling and nowhere to go". ...

Yeah ... besides for that Houston game it just seems to me that when Luka starts the night poorly he tends to shoot poorly the whole game. Fortunately, there are more aspects to his game besides scoring and it's good to see him contribute in other ways.

He had a 34 pt, 10-16 FG game where he shot 7-10 from 3. Shot poorly from the FT line though with 7/13.

Still good enough for a TS of .783.

He only shot lights out in the first half. I think he was 2/9 in the 2nd half and only had 7 points. He never had an incredible shooting night for a whole game.

His 3point shot is regressing, only .306 in January. Same with FT%, only .667. It should be his priority. Just keep shooting 3s and Fts in practice.

Yeah, that's the game I was refering to in my post. That's his best shooting night. I would say it's more great than amazing though. I mean he only has 10 games where he shot over .500. 2 over .600. It somehow feels like he should be a better shooter than that. But I guess that the scoring load + all the unassisted shots + all the heaves don't help.

Dallas cleaned the house, Luka will have more shots and lower %. Who cares, he for sure doesn’t with all impossible shots he’s taking.

I don't really see a whole lot of bad shots, to be honest. A couple here and there. Also, he still had a good game, and put his stamp on this one. Whenever he was in, we got good shots, just nobody really made them with any consistency. Still got the W. A huge task is coming up, I am curious to see what we can do against an amazing Bucks team that won 21 out of their last 25. Probably not much, but still exciting to watch Luka do his thing without any of the ball stoppers (well, with a new ball stopper, THJ :D ).

He certainly needs to improve his shot and his foot work. But it also potentially speaks to a lack of proper NBA level conditioning, as there's some evidence a wear down factor might be invovled. Plus he's taking a significant amount of contested 3 pointers. He doesn't exactly have another great passer on the team to get him more easy open looks.

I think Luka is likely wearing down a little, he's got a lot of load/demand for a 19 year old rookie. His shot should be fine long-term, just keep working on less turnovers and learning the speed and flow of the NBA for next season.

Not bad, difficult/impossible shots. Mavs will sooner or later fall like a stone. You just cannot sell 4 starters, lost the most important player from the bench Barea, not play Porzingis and expect to be competitive against good teams.

Yeah, not really flattering. But they won the game, so maybe he gets a tiny pass (no sarcasm).

I don't know, didn't seem like that to me yesterday. THJ has shown to be a willing passer.

And speaking of Trae. It's amazing how the tables have turned now. In my opinion he has a better supporting cast now around him. Specially with emergence of Huerter who did wonders for his game.
And looking at the Mavs, they literally lost their 2nd and 3rd scoring option on that team in just a week. They traded away 4 starters and got in return THJr who shouldn't be starting on any team anyway... Will be interesting to see how Luka can carry a very depleted team forward.

I think John Collins has made an impressive leap his sophomore year.

As for Luka and the Mavs...
I'm sure Luka understands that the reason why 4 out of the Mavs starting 5 were traded away was because of his emergence this season. It seems Luka got introduced to the business side of the NBA real quick.
Hopefully he doesn't get too down on himself and feels he's to blame for him teammates getting traded. Donnie is obviously planning for the future right now - I just hope he knows what he's doing.

Luka lost four members of starting five. Like last year with Real Madrid :)

I think JJJ will easily be the best 2 way player out of that group. His range and rim protection makes him look like a modern big man.

The jumpshot will be the key to his career. He will need opposing defenses to fear his jumper in order to become a consistent All-NBA performer. He's an insanely great prospect, but I want to see him become an elite or at least a very good shooter before crowning him. I hope he gets there.
