Is there anywhere on the net that has Hornets optimism for this season or the future?

Can you really take a 3rd straight ho hum 36-38 win season?

Over leveraging two young assets for an over-the-hill C or a poor-fit C just to appease a star who may or may not still leave?

Upside- we didn't do anything dumb
Downside- we didn't do anything

Hope Kemba sticks around and we can start to parlay the bad contracts into talent next year....

Those two were not in the deal?

It’s been evident that we’ve needed a trade since week 1 of the season. How we get all the way to February and can’t even dump Frank? Lol. I think even Cho could’ve flipped one of the lesser players for something that could leak open some optimism.

Really can't blame Kupchak….I think he tried but apparently refused to give away the young guys or draft picks to get rid of a bad contract. Glad to have Kupchak who seems to be logical in his decisions and does not just overreact like Cho/Clifford. It really tells us what the rest of the league feels about our overpaid misfits (Batum, CZ, Biz, Marv, and MKG). Hopefully now JB will understand and not play this combination with Kemba in crunch time. They have failed too many times and time to give Monk, Bridges, and Graham more opportunities. JMO

This... How do you keep Frank? Can’t even get a protected 2nd that may or may not convey?

I guess the verdict is out until the summer whether Kemba resigns or not. However, I’ve been a Hornets/Bobcats fan for a long time, I’m not sticking around to see what happens. My new team will be the worst team this year who doesn’t get Zion. Peace, Bobnets or Horncats whatever you are.

Well the only thing I can think is we think we can parlay our first around the draft for a better asset after the season is over.

You can blame him. Not having a contingency plan? Like another poster said maybe he just isn’t that good with out that Lakers prestige behind him, even then he was so/so. Talent was traded for expiring contracts but we traded our expiring for some 2nds and one I believe we sold for cash, which we’ve done every year.

Well if we leave the roster as is for next season we will have expirings out the wazoo. Maybe they will actually turn into something of value for once.

Is it too early to start looking at the top prospects in the 2020 draft?

Doing nothing pretty much guarantees Kemba is leaving. :(

We may never know, it’s bad PR if it ever comes out. Memphis thought they had a deal, sat Gasol, while we played our players. Not sure if we asked for more or changed something but something is amiss. Either bad negotiating on our part or theirs, I’m assuming the former.

Yeah if it wasn’t for that blurb earlier this season about trusting Mitch to get some help I’d have more hope he stays.

I would think they would be in heavy contact with Kemba about what was going on and say hey we can get this guy for this, but if not, I think you’re right he’s gone and that is a colossal mistake.

We were patient for once and that is in itself an improvement. Hopefully, Kemba gave Mitch and Mike a firm commitment to return and we are finally not making dumb moves for short term gain. Ex- Plumlee-Mozgov-Dwight- Biyombo

If Kemba is definitely coming back, we can then draft a 2 guard who can play some minutes off the bench or an athletic shot blocker at 4-5. Next year at this time- Trade our expirings for talent or sign a decent FA in summer 2020.
As long as Kemba returns I think we are going to be a lot better going forward. Devonte/Bridges/Monk can all make strides into good players too.

In all seriousness, they need to start thinking of ways to position for a max slot even if it’s not until 2020 or 21

Thats next year. What's the point of watching this year then? There's half a season left.
