And, really, I prefer it that way if Schlenk wasn't getting anything of substance back. Where future trade negotiations are concerned, the other GM has to take you seriously when you say, "You can pay me what I'm asking, or you can compete with everyone else on the market for him."

Why would we do that?

Well, not really. IIUC, they didn't pay us necessarily. They basically paid the rest of the dude's salary so we didn't have to come out of pocket. I have no idea why that was the process as opposed to them simply waiving him.

A$G would've been asking for lunch money too 'cause they needed it.

Ya know, it wouldn't be the wildest idea that they would buy-out and release Vince.

Raps only have 10 on their roster... would make for a fitting conclusion.

I think Celts wanted the roster spot — to maybe pick up a buyout player

What do you mean?

I don't understand the question.

We're in tank mode.

Winning games costs us draft slots.

If you're going to win, certainly don't do it using vets who very, very likely aren't going to be here.

This HAS to be the most non sexy boring track record of deadline deals for any team out there. Bobby was by far the most exciting and needed at the time for sure.

Uggggghhhh I hate this deadline. Nada nothing.

As the resident "5th worst strategist" and competi-tanker, I'm slightly disappointed by the lack of veteran moves but otherwise not too highly bothered about it. Meh :-?

The boo birds are coming especially if the Hawks string together a bunch of wins against winning teams! Guaranteed! 8-)

I am starting to wonder, what the flying heck do they want to do? Do they want to tank and try to get Zion, try to winning more games then end up with only one draft pick via two or try to do the "Golden State".

1. It's C-Viv. So who really knows. The reporter who always is tweeting, "I can confirm x," seemingly because he doesn't have the kind of sources that tell him anything before someone else finds out.

2. I can understand the gamesmanship in Schlenk telling C-Viv, "we have no intention to buy anyone out."

That's giving an upper hand in those negotiations, and that wouldn't be intelligent.

3. Neither though is it intelligent to use vets to win your way to worse and worse draft picks.

Or, does that somehow make sense to some people here? I'm intrigued how you explain that that is somehow a productive endeavor.

1. I love no deal over bad deal. Always have, always will.

2. For the first time since I've heard him in this process, he mentioned signing a FA. That's big time and it's clear he would rather have as much talent as possible to win as many games to appeal to a big time FA. I am thinking someone like Boogie Cousins or Al Horford.

3. He also mentioned in a previous interview that wings are his primary focus. I been thinking that as well watching this class and what we need.

4. We still have 53,490,730 in cap space with 6 spots available. With 3 spots likely being used in the draft. That will give us 42-48 million in cap space for FA. Which is one room for max, A key role player and the NTP MLE. We have a lot of options.

Good. Screw all these playoff teams who expect lesser teams to do them favors by buying out players. If you want one of our players you best trade for them or gtfo.
