We treadmilled so hard it forcefully threw us off, I like it.
And the 4th pick in the 2020 NBA draft goes to the Charlotte Hornets!

The only other teams are the Warriors, Nuggets, and Spurs.

I'm gonna need an explanation for how having 35-year-old Marc Gasol as your best player if Kemba walks makes you a better team. By all accounts, Memphis wanted Monk or Bridges in addition to a first-round pick, just to give us Gasol and take Biyombo off our hands. That would've accomplished:
1) Hurting our already perilous interior defense
2) Robbing us of a SG who's still improving
3) Robbing us of our first-round pick
4) ???
5) Somehow making us better

You’re stuck on Gasol. It seems to me we had a deal and I think we went back for more or giving up less. That Toronto package wasn’t great and the people saying Monk are even credible sources.
NOBODY here was on board with trading Bridges or Monk (unless they took Batum)
You can look at what Kemba said as a mandate or not, we will see this summer.

He didn't say it would make us better. He said it would help the cap situation.

Well first off I never said anything about Gasol being our best player post-Kemba, nor did I mention anything aside from our cap sheet. Second: Monk and/or Bridges were never included in any substantiated rumors, most credible sources had some combination of Cody/Biz/MKG/protected 1st.

Nothing, honestly. Just frustrating they couldn't regroup to do something once that fell through. The only other teams that stood pat were the top 2 teams in the west and the damn Spurs. We are certainly not in a comparable situation.Robot Rock wrote:BlackOutBuzz wrote:Robot Rock wrote:

So if we offered some combination of Cody/Biz/MKG/protected 1st, and they declined, what'd we do wrong again?

Now the team can act all sad and disappointed and point at Kemba when he walks away because we can't offer anything more than any other team can offer after you factor in sponsorships he'll gain from a big market.

I think the team decided not to bid high on Gasol because he's a 34-year-old center who doesn't fit the offense beyond improving our ratings on 2K, and he costs $24 million this year and $25 million next year if he opts in. And if he opts out, I guess the team decided not to bid high on a two-month rental of a 34-year-old center who doesn't fit the offense beyond improving our ratings on 2K.

The money you are speaking about is practically meaningless. You're telling me Gasol isn't better than Biz & MKG? Or Zeller & MKG? We are paying guys anyway, if he opted out, we'd have 25 million to spend on someone else. I just don't follow your logic. You are assuming that we'd be trading Monk or Bridges, which has never been reported by a reputable source.
I would trade a lotto protected frp for Gasol along with Biz/Cody & MKG. I think that is a good deal for us and better than what Toronto gave up.
