FIRE MAGIC: Something Rotten in the State of Lakerland

Post#1 » by milesfides » Thu Feb 7, 2019 9:44 pm

And it's not your dead father, Jeannie.

It's Macbeth, who is destroying the kingdom. A great soldier doesn't make a good king. And, "basketball players don't make good GM's," said Kobe Bryant.

Instead of assembling a sensible roster, Magic and Rob built a flawed one from the beginning, with mismatched agendas. They set unrealistic expectations based on their own inadequate work. And blamed others for their own failures. And instead of developing our assets, Magic and Rob killed the value of ALL our young players. They did that carelessly, desperately, and ultimately, bottom line, they failed. They need to be held accountable for their bad risks - and bad faith.

And both Magic and Rob Pelinka have been unscrupulous as representatives of the Lakers. In their short time, they both have been individually fined or warned multiple times for tampering, coming across to the rest of the league as arrogant pricks who think rules don't apply to them. That erodes trust - and the league is a club. It operates on good faith, which Magic and Rob in their short time have disregarded. Wink-winks, back-channels, shady deals, conflict of interest - getting in bed with Lebron and Rich Paul, whom they've allowed to orchestrate moves that ultimately eroded the Lakers' standing and ability to operate in the league. Within their short tenure, at least several teams including the Pacers and New Orleans have stonewalled Magic and Rob and refused to deal with them.

Magic and Rob have lost credibility in the league. As a result, so have the Lakers. They've become handicapped as a result of Magic and Rob's own behavior and actions. The Lakers have become a laughingstock, because they've build so much resentment around the league that teams, not just fans, but actual teams are scheming of ways to gain their revenge for Magic, Rob, Lebron, Rich Paul's arrogance and unscrupulous behavior. And they've ruined their own product. The team is a mess. They're divided, against the coach, against each other. Toxic.

Magic is a basketball player. Rob is an agent. Neither of them has proven to be qualified to run a basketball team, let alone elevate it or bring back showtime. They screwed up. They can't undo this. They'll try, but they can't. Too many bridges burnt, reputations set. The Lakers used to be a class act. Now, the class clown.

Jeannie needs to clean house. She did once for incompetence. Now, that and debasement. Purple and gold can sadly join the red, white, and blue as glory bled dim by corrupt leadership.

Something rotten on this forum, tbh.

Jeanie is your real GM. She is the one that wanted Lonzo and Luke

Trade Lonzo first. Lavar Ball has been let loose and has probably advised Lonzo to check out. He's making the situation 100x worse now that he's firing off on everyone via national media and social media. For the love of God Lavar MUST be silenced.

Lavar is treading down those waters where a GM trades your son for a guy who paid $150 at a G League tryout and found a way to stick in the NBA.

And I wouldn’t even be mad. Lonzo is poo poo and there’s been no signs of improvement offensively besides a slightly altered shot that did nothing up to this moment.

Blame Magic? That’s just silly. Stop listening to the blue check marks who get fed wrong information purposely.

I understand where you're coming from, and I share many of your concerns, but you gotta see how good we have it compared to other teams. A lot of teams have no titles, we have the second most. A lot of teams don't have any legends that relate themselves to those franchises, we have several. We missed out on AD today, but we have the best player in the game, arguably. We also have the benefit of knowing how good the young boys are more than anyone else.

Magic drafted Lonzo which could've been Fox, or Tatum, or anyone else, but he also got us Kuzma and Hart. I'm sure a lot of teams around the league would love to have our package (pause) but have no one to offer for it.

There is definitely a massive issue with how theyve approached teams with trades otherwise there wouldnt be this repeated pattern of hostility from the opposing trade partner. That is definitely partly on them.

Wonder how Magic feels right now. I wonder what he thinks when DLo suits up for the All-Star game?

Easy there miles.

After TD, we only lost a 2nd rounder plus Zubac and added Bullocks and Muscala plus a open slot for either Ellington (hopefully) or Melo. We got ride of Beasley too. We got better and added a pure shooter for the playoff push. Muscala could also get back to 2017 form and be good from 3range.

Magic/Pelinka looked like amateur fools on how the AD situation went down but honestly they went after a generations talent. They took their shot and lost but other than NO UNprofessionally shouting and leaking the offer like little biatches, they were good.

Now they need to add a Ellington and make a playoff push. They and Luke or a new coach need to rally the troops and then get ready for 2019 summer.

He’s probably gonna think that was no way in hell gonna happen in the West.

From outsider perspective, nepotism seems to be a big problem with Lakers ownership/front office operations. Ham handed short sighted moves based on the big name rather than from smarts and identifying efficiencies.

Pretty sure the plan was this:

Sign another max free agent in 2019 offseason. Prioritize payment of guards and wings (not Zubac) to build around LeBron and free agent. Sign vet min Centers. Keep remaining youth and perhaps trade those that don't fit the team.

A slight diversion to plan. Can get AD and perhaps a 3rd max agent in 2019 if trading all young assets. This plan failed.

Back to the original plan.

Trade LeBron, fire Magic. Next Miles is going to suggest tearing down Staples Center.

And how do you see that turning out this summer?
