To be fair, only Crawford and Oubre are the only players on this team that's been on a winning team. Tyler makes it 3
Boy he's not a great looking dude

I don't have anything against Tyler as a player. I just don't see how he can fix our point guard problem. Plus with his salary it means the Suns can't sign a free agent point guard.

Boo hoo
Ignore his contract
Focusing on it leads into a whole big What If
The dude is a hard nosed tough player from the day one.... worked his tail off at all stops. Lookng forward to his contribution and hope he embraces being here. He is the type of pro that will take on all challenges. Everything you read about him says so. And he didn’t cost us anything but Ryan Anderson .... it seems too many here had already stretched Anderson when it was more or less and option we all here penciled in.

Hopefully with Tyler starting it means less time for Jamal Crawford to be playing point and less time for point Booker.

Frank, I got think you have reversal syndrome going on right now. when there was a positive vibe going on, you were negative, now that's it's almost universally negative, you're coming up with a positive message. Let me ask you a question- Are you automatically skeptical of movies that are being pumped up by everyone around you? I know I am haha.

Watching his highlights, he does seem like a good fit in the motion offense since he seems to love to move without the ball, set screens, and pop.

Well it's easy to pencil in waiving/stretching Anderson when you have to pay him $6 million more if he you don't waive him, and he's not playing anyway. I don't mind having Tyler. He's not who I would have signed in free agency though, not even for $13 million or even $5+ million, so I don't see a real reason not to stretch them unless people care a ton about "dead money" like it's theirs.

I'm not so sure he gets waived this summer. With the amount of teams with cap space I could see some idiotic deals thrown around when teams fail to land the top guys. If the market gets too hot they might just use their 15 mil and keep him around as an expiring to either just play out and get the space the following year or in trade.bwgood77 wrote:Frank Lee wrote:Boo hoo

Now of course if an impact player wants to come here and they need the space then he's gone.

Re: The Tyler Johnson Thread
We've got him now so may as well get behind him.
I've always liked him as a combo guard off the bench but sounds like he's going straight into the starting 5. He can defend a bit and is quite physical, so as long as we're not relying on him as our main facilitator - won't be happening obviously - then he fills a need.
His last 3 seasons since getting significant minutes he's averaged 12.3pts 3.5reb 2.7ast 1.0stl 0.5blk 1.5x 3pt on 43/37/77 splits - all easily better than any PG we've trotted out this year! And that was in 189 games, only 49 of those were starts, in 28.3mpg.
We had $20m of dead matter with Ryno, at least this $19m will play and play hard. He's a tough, athletic, hard-nosed guy from a winning culture in Miami, hopefully he brings some of that energy here. Will assume he starts at PG but mainly just defends PGs and we get a large helping of Point Book, which I'm happy with.
Dude has some hops and is a good shot-blocker for a guard...Also looks like a cross between Mose from The Office as others have said, with a little Flea from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers too...
First interview with the Suns
Sounds like a good dude wanting to bring some leadership wanting to bring some of the Heat's toughness here.
Sorry if this stuff has been posted elsewhere!

Nice post tastic! Dude does have some hops and he's a certainly a tough dude. He's the type of guy if he's making 5 mil and a bench guard you love having on your team.
I think it's good to have guys who had to work their ass of to get and stay in the league around a team with high draft picks. It's shows the young guys what it really takes to be a pro and guys like that will bust their ass in practice.
Holmes brings some of this too.

You mention $15 million. Are you assuming we renounce Oubre and keep our pick? Or don't renounce Oubre and trade our pick and don't take back salary? I saw $15 million mentioned by David Nash including holds for Oubre and Holmes, but he doesn't include a hold for the draft pick which would be like $7-$9.5 million.
So if we keep Tyler, Oubre, and Holmes, we will have $5-8 million in cap space I believe.

Just a number I've seen thrown around. As far as oubre who knows, he's far from a lock to get the QO. I'd bet one or more of him, Jackson, Warren are gone by mid July.bwgood77 wrote:WeekapaugGroove wrote:I'm not so sure he gets waived this summer. Someone is going to overpay Oubre in free agency. I just hope Jones doesn't match out of pride/stupidity. Assuming Jones is made full GM (which I hope not now).

Then there is the story about him busting his teeth in college practice... which he promptly picked up from the floor, continued w/o missing a play.
I see a section full of Johnson fans with a blacked out tooth... well, as soon as we can fill up a section.

That's probably where the FO guys got the idea...
Sarver -- "Man, look at the arena, all those gaps in the sections...losing money hand over fist..."
Jones -- "Hey, what about that dude with the gapped front tooth...Johnson, I think is his name, over in Miami..."
Sarver -- "Hey, that's not a bad idea...make it happen! I'm tired of paying Anderson $20M to mope on the sidelines"
Seriously, wouldn't surprise me if that's how decisions are made int his organization...ugh...
I like what Tyler brings to the table, in athleticism and heart...but...we have another, NOT-pure PG, to play PG...Are we allergic to traditional PGs, or something? Hopefully he can play the point, embrace distribution, rather than shooting, and he'll be a great fit for us...that's all we can really do at present moment. But in no way, right at this moment, do I feel that our need for a PG has been satisfied with this deal; I would LOVE for Tyler to make me eat my words. I've been wanting to eat 'crow' since before the season started; no one has taken me up on my offer--Ariza has predictably failed and is gone, Doncic is outplaying Ayton...there's just too many to count...
