Gasol needs zero sheltering. He can play in every situation and match up. There are no holes in his game. He is an impact 2-way big minute starting C.

I love Jonas but he just isn't that. He's a matchup C against only certain particular other Cs.

This is a big, big upgrade.

Center was by far the weakest slot in the starting lineup, and we just upgraded it with a big-time player.

I guess we'll see when he gets the majority of the center minutes in Memphis. he's the automatic starter now and we'll probably get the most minutes of his career up to this point. Im betting your wrong.

JV's efficiency should take a hit. However, Jaren Jackson is probably wjo they are going to feature. they literally traded away any wing player that could be productive so Jaren Jackson can be the man, with Conley mentoring him.

If he stays over .500 its pennys on the dollar. And ive seen the stats. Whenever he plays more, shoots more, his production goes up, along with his the winning percentage of the team. Its not just a few games either, its significant.

Memphis cleared out their big men so Jackson Jr and JV get all the minutes and touches. You'll be surprised at how well he does there. They for some odd reason got better with the addition of Bradley.

i'm a JV fan. you don't need to tell you how many times i screamed Casey to put JV in. lets get that fact straight.

His passes are still going to players who can't hit open threes. We did not address shooting with this trade. Gasol himself has a 44% fg AND A very AVG .34% PT%.

If they pick up 3 + D guys at the deadline, than maybe we can benefit from those passes

Don't know that there were too many great 3pt shooters available at the deadline for a reasonable price. I think we did what we could. Mirotic would've been nice of course, but we can't get everyone. The buyout market is obviously the target, so, finger's crossed.

Real question, how good was JV without Lowry? Conley is more of a scorer than a distributor, and now Memphis has also lost their second play initiator in Gasol. I think there's a chance that JV doesn't just explode when given more minutes, like many posters say he will. But he's going to a great situation in terms of P/T, so he will get plenty of chances to show what he can do. Rooting for him.

It is funny when I read all the other team fans said this is a steal for us and some of our Raptors think this is the worst trade for our team.

What's your expectation for JV on the Grizzlies?

He's been great as a starter all season, is he going to the bench? I just don't understand how tee team dynamics are gonna work. I think this is a mistake tbh.

Yeah because you’re going to land Anthony Davis for that dumpster fire package. Ya’ll are **** delusional.

Except that's not the point I was trying to make at all. I'm saying I don't mind gutting the team if it's for a legit star. Like siakam og fvv for Davis. But to give up two good players for a guy past his prime and isn't really that much better at this point in his career doesn't make sense. If this wax marc gasol from a few years ago Its a great trade. But 34 year old washed gasol Idk.

How is he past his prime? You do realize he’s playing with scrubs and that’s why his percentages are down. He comes to a winning situation, he’s going to be re-invigorated. It’s a no brainer move

That he makes the all-star team and the doubters look more stupid? Not sure why it would change from this year.

Thats explained by you complex with JV. Ive said it before and ill say it again, and we'll see it soon finally, but when he gets more playing, more touches, he puts up very good numbers which produces success.

Hold your rebuttal. You'll see soon enough. And when Marc Gasol ends up with some career low numbers (due to the players around him) and JV with career high, media will be wanting Masai's head.

No, I'm just stating what you said to us all. And no... we won't see.

JV will put up better numbers on a losing team like they are empty calories.

Glad this thread was made so we can easily pinpoint all the insane people on here.

How can you not be happy about this? Jesus Christ we have some of the best and at the same time some of the worst/dumbest fans. Sorry guys.

These idiots never know what’s up until it’s too late. Raptors hindered JV and now he’s been traded for a shell of a former all star.

we are headed back to the basement where we belong and I can’t wait.

I'm starting to come around on this trade after watching some film & reviewing his stats.

He doesn't seem to be declining all that much really...

Love JV, but Gasol remains the better, higher IQ player.

yeah an important aspect being overlooked is that Gasol has a higher BBIQ than JV and Ibaka combined. Dude reminds me of Duncan and players like them have such good fundamentals that a bit of lost athleticism isn't really that important.

Hardly surprising. And you want the Raptors to suck just because they traded JV. So many JV fans were never real raptors fans. Well, I'll try to be happy for both of us.

Did you even read my post, there’s a lot of valid data there. Did you see how he recently performed against the Celtics and bucks. The man shot 1/10. His shot has fallen off recently. I’ll give you he’s a better passer and higher IQ but that sure as hell better be good enough to overcome JV’s elite scoring efficiency, better rebounding and not to mentioned we gave up Delon as well.

This is a LATERAL move. Plain and simple. If you call us insane than I will call you naive and you blindly think this is Gasol from 5 years ago.
