We should trade Ariza for a bad contract (expires in 2020) + 1st (though we can't take on extra salary for this season) but at least for expiring + 2nd. Green as well. I don't even know what kind of team we have right now, let's see...

Ugh. What a horrific roster. We wanted to tank but not this way.

Why is Parker starting he's not a NBA player.

...I like Dekker too... we should resign him if possible.

I just think that given the team aspect of the game Harris is a better (much) fit for Philly - he is a much better 3 point shooter (that helps Simmons). Also, he is a much better defensive rebounder than Dekker (this year). Two things that really help Philly. And yes, he is a tweener, but one that can defend both SF and PF as well (he does pretty well on switch to Cs as well).

Now, if Dekker develops a 3...

Oh, I didn't mean to suggest that Philly should have traded for Dekker in particular, instead of Harris (though it is never wrong -- never! -- to acquire a player who produces at a level above what he's paid). Just comparing value....

This trade will work out to be a lottery pick in 2021, Landry Shamet, & 4 R2 picks in return for Tobias Harris.

It's so weird to see teams get Mirotuc and Gasol for basically nothing.

The whole time the Wizards were a playoff move we never did anything trade wise to get us over the hump.

Let's see...

First deal
We trade our R1 pick in 2014 for Marcin Gortat, then we trade Marcin Gortat for Austin Rivers.
We trade our #19 pick in 2015, our R2 pick in 2015, & our R 2 next year for Kelly Oubre.
Then we trade Austin Rivers & Kelly Oubre for the expiring salary of a 15-year veteran, whom we may sign this off-season (as we could have done without trading for him)..

Second deal
We've traded the #3 pick in the 2013 draft, a guy who without question was one of the best young players in the league last year & the year before, for a) a complete bust (Jabari Parker) & b) a partial bust on the way to full bustitude (Bobby Portis).
Jabari Parker will not be with us next year. Bobby Portis will get his qualifying offer & expire next year.

Third deal
We trade a R1 lottery pick for Markieff Morris. Then we trade Markieff Morris for bounced-around veteran Wesley Johnson.
Johnson will likely be out of the league next year or else at best a veteran minimum player.

That's four Round 1 picks (a #3, a #13, a #18 & a #19) plus 2 R2 picks in return for... nothing.

But, wait a minute, why be pessimistic? Lets suppose that Bobby Portis becomes an average NBA player. We might have picked him with that #19 I just mentioned, right? So, if everything really works out great -- I mean really good, the best you could hope for, in that case it will turn out to be:

Three Round 1 picks (a #3, a #13, & a #18) plus 2 R2 picks in return for nothing.

How can this man still have a job? Aren't people responsible for their level of performance?

So, how E.G. would it be. Draft loto night, wiza #2 or #1.......3 days later. the wizards trade john wall and the #2/#1 over all pick to so and so to clear cap space. get second rounder in return with cap filler one year contract.

Sorry I haven't posted at my usual rate lately. I just don't care about the Wizards anymore. At least not while EFG is still running the show.

I feel sorry for Beal and Troy Brown, and anyone else under contract with the Wiz for any length of time. They should both demand to be traded at the next opportunity.

I also feel sorry for the fans, especially the "casual" fans who don't really know the ins-and-outs of cap management, etc... It's tough enough for people like most of the posters here, who, for the most part, do understand that stuff. But imagine not knowing why the team has sucked for so long and almost accepting it as if it is simply the way things go for the Wiz. It's as if it has become normal to suck. That's okay for a porn star, but not a basketball team.

How can they justify this type of move? It is simply insane to trade away a player who is everything most teams are searching for and can't get enough of -- a fundamentally sound 3&D wing with good size and excellent shooting skill -- in a salary dump! WTF?!? I guess the question should be asked, "Why did the team need to get rid of such an asset for little return in the first place?"

By the way, since I live in NYC, it has become pretty easy to like the Brooklyn Nets. They seem to be trending in the right direction, and although they've had a terrible run of injuries, they are ahead of projections on their re-build. And -- God forbid -- the players look like they are actually having fun every night. Their GM, Sean Marks, is straight out of the Popovich Tree, and their coach, Kenny Atkinson, was an assistant to Budenholzer in Atlanta. Budenholzer is also straight outta the Pop Tree.

Where's My Lil Ellie? Rolling in the joy of this **** show, I reckon. Meanwhile, her father is flushing her inheritance down John Wall's toilet. Maybe when the kids realize what's happening to their birthright they will beg their daddy to sell the team.

In this case, if what he means is that w/o giving up a R2 pick we couldn't have gotten under the tax level, then that has -- in a very limited domain -- truth to it.

But, for starters, never has Ernie Grunfeld bought a R2 pick, so either there's never been anyone he liked (& of course at least 1/3 of the top 100 players in the league are out of R2) -- which condemns him all on its own -- or maybe they aren't actually "always bought and sold" but only once in a while.

Then there's the fact that no attention is paid to the question of HOW WE GOT INTO THIS MESS.

But the buy out market is open. I am looking at kanter, lopez, deadmon, Lin, if they get bought out. I feel like Johnson and jenkins are not going to make it though the year as wizards.
