You can basically run an offense through Gasol. He facilitates well and is elite at reading and reacting to defenses. He is a HUGE upgrade over JV.

Were talking 34 rear old gasol. People are talking as if this was 3 years ago. He's shooting 44% this year. Last year he shot 42%. He's not the same layer he used to me. People get so caught up in a name that they fail to be rational.

Like others have said in order for this trade to be worth it gasol defense has to be amazing because that's really the only positive he's bringing right now over jv. If his defense is only average then it was a poittless trade. Jv averages about the same amount of boards in more than 10 less minutes. He's scores way more efficiently. Also, ibaka who has bested all season now has a dminished role? You can't run the offense through gsol anymore, that's why he's shooting less and also taking more 3s.but his 3 point shooting isn't even elite.

Also fvv is gonna hvve to play out of his mind the rest of the way. If nick nurse couldn't get the roster he had to click Idk how this is gpnna be any easier for him. Again, if this was marc gasol from at least 3 years ago I think it's great. This marc gasol though Idk. This isn't like the kawhi demar upgrade. Kawhi was bettee in every statistical categpory Essen tially and is younger. This one can go either way.

I find it odd how there was such an intense backlash for the demar trade when Tt was essentially a no brainer and yet this one people are acting like it's a similar no brainer with not as much backlash at all, when the player were getting back isn't nearly the upgrade kawhi was.

Three to Five years ago gasol shot the same 2pt% as he does now. He couldn't hit threes. He's shooting and hitting threes now. Your argument is bad because you're bad at stats and you're looking at bad stats. Good day. Three years ago he shot .463 from inside the arc which is fact not great.

I think there's a chance that JV doesn't just explode when given more minutes, like many posters say he will. But he's going to a great situation in terms of P/T, so he will get plenty of chances to show what he can do. Rooting for him.

He's really productive, whether it's with or without Lowry on the court.

People in this city get way too attach to certain players that play here. You got giovinco who was great while he was here, but tried to pull the strings on his own contract. when the club said nah we're not giving you that, then people turned on the club, talking about "give him what he wants" I don't care what that man has his agent write on instagram to save face. he's been chasing checks since he left Serie A. You don't leave 1 of the top leagues in Europe at 27 to come to the MLS unless you're getting f...... paid big money, you don't leave the MLS to go play in the Middle East unless you're getting big f....... money. Those kind of moves screams playing for a check bro. That's like saying I rather play in china instead of the NBA or the euro league for the love of the game. F... Outta here man... No star player in the MLS wakes up and says god I wanna go play soccer in the Middle East for the love of the game smh get real. You're going there because they're paying you big f...... money.

I see all these hockey fans saying I dunno much about basketball but JV seemed like a great guy. So why did the raptors trade him ? smh What the f... Does being a great guy have to do with talent ? These guys would have still cried if we traded a sh.. Package that included lowry for AD. A lot of raps fans are causal Canadian sports fans. They watch the raptors but don't follow the league. They don't know much about guys like gasol, hell most of them don't know much about kawhi. A lot of these people don't know much about what's going on outside the raptors. There's a lot of people who know a lot about basketball that think this trade was a lateral move. There's also a lot of fans who are ignorant and look at past stats and big names and don't observe how these players are currently playing now. Gasol just shot 1/10 against the celtics and overall shoots terribly for a big man, his TS% is number 8 on a crappy Memphis team, JV's was #1 on a much better raptors team, he's higher than Siakam and Kawhi.

Gasol's advantages are passing and slightly better defense (as he's much older compared to when he won DPoY). We gave up JV's steller offensive efficiency, and rebounding not to mention delon's length and rebounding for his position. This will come down to the buyout market. If they get good players there than this trade could make sense.

I was looking for a trade that puts us over the top, this trade does not do that. We should have gone after Beal to address shooting. Gasol passing to players who can't make threes do not help our case and Gasol himself is not an efficient interior scorer. This has more to do with reasoning(see first post) than emotion. If anything your post seems overly emotional.

Hardly surprising. And you want the Raptors to suck just because they traded JV. So many JV fans were never real raptors fans. Well, I'll try to be happy for both of us.

Real raptor fans point out the short comings, they don’t just swallow everything unquestioned. Marc Gasol is not the answer, and the buyout market is atrocious.

We’re pound for pound worse than the bucks and the Celtics, and can hardly handle Phili && Indi.

While I think he is slowly regressing and his stats are not appealing as well, but the guy is tough and he is what the team needs: A veteran who does the little things which help win games and mentor our younger players. Its a guy who you can leave on the court in a 4th quarter close game, which is something you cannot say the same to the players we traded away

JV is averaging 18 minutes per game and Gasol is a number 2 option who is 2nd on his team in ppg and assists. Because of their completely different play styles and massively different usage comparing efficiency is pointless.

I liked Delon but his minutes will be easy to replace, especially as rotations tighten in the playoffs. And he’s a 27 year old RFA this season.

I’m sure Masai would have loved Beal too, don’t think that was realistically happening.

We trade away your mancrush and now you want us to lose. We both know this has zero to do with the 10th to 12th spots on the roster or the buyout market for you, so it’s best you dont compound this with a bunch of rubbish.

its why some of the fan base is so whack.

you see how many people cried when Derozan left and wanted the Raptors to lose?

same thing for Casey - so many people said Raptors deservet to lose to him

its like this fanbase has PTSD from bad teams and they want to be life buddies with everyone that has been here for some time.

rep the team on front of the jersey, not the name on the back. yes you can critisize the move but to say you want the Raptors to suffer is beyond me.

moves like these, Derozan, JV, Casey exposes the fake fans.
