Role players. If we are lucky enough to add two more lottery picks to our roster via this summer's draft, we can slowly integrate them into the rotation.

Beyond that, I expect more signings like Len and Dedmon. We have a legit shot to make the playoffs next year based primarily on the growth of our young core.

We'll likely switch from asset acquisition to team building this summer. i expect some of our modest assets to be combined in a bid for an in-prime All Star.

Very possibly Brad Beal.

I don't see us being major players in free agency this offseason. I see us simply drafting and maintaining. We may not re-sign Deadman and Lin but I think we'll attempt to fill their roles with similar players for cheap(ish).

We're at a point where we could be competitive sort of as-is. Signing a guy like a Middleton does nothing to enhance that really. It certainly doesn't do enough to make it worth tying up the capspace to get him.

This, we'll make our 2 draft picks and fill in the roster atound them with value free agent signings. I think we'll use capspace for another future 1st., Unless something unexpected falls into our lap via FAcy.

Are there any Capela types available on some team's bench? I like Deadman but I still think we need a rebound/defend type guy next to Collins. I've always hated Noah but if there was a Noah-type, that would be good for us. Is Christian Wood (MIL) that kind of player? Diallo though he's restricted (NOP)? If Noel wasn't a Klutch guy (and therefore will be looking to get over-paid), I wouldn't mind him.

Two other names I'd really be in favor of pursuing: Danny Green and/or Serge Ibaka.

Green is a FA I think and will likely get overpaid.

Ibaka is already overpaid after last year's Free Agency.

But I like what they provide on the court and how they'd potentially fit alongside our core.

Financially, they may not be viable options.

I haven't checked the lists, yet.
RFAs like WCS, not sure about his defense, how tall is Diallo? Justin Patyon (sturts guy) but he's always injured. Damion Jones from Warriors? Not sure of his contract status.

Probably better to find the young versions of those guys. Any names come to mind?

On a semi-related note, I haven't liked what I've seen from McCaw for TOR. He looks the part but never really does anything that stands out. Am I wrong there?

He's played 11 games, 8 with Toronto. I haven't seen him play much.

WCS is a low energy big looking to get paid. EZPassLane for me on him.

I think Diallo is a 6'9" type of guy so not huge. Patton or Jones may be targets.

That Brandon Clarke kid out of Gonzaga plays similarly to Ibaka. He doesn't have quite the measurables. And he's more of a small-ball-4 while Ibaka has been playing Center this year...

But the shot blocking, team defense and potential three point shot profiles comparably.

Proof that a championship level team can be built without lottery picks:

Read on Twitter

Brogdon and Middleton were both low-ceiling role players that broke out in a system that featured them properly. Multiple years of college, they came into the league with a specific role in mind more polished and improved their stock from there.

That's how I'd like to see us use our 2nd rounders moving forward. We've traded away our own 2nd round pick each summer under Travis. I'm interested in seeing what direction he goes in this year.

I think the Bucks can make some big noise this year but let's not get ahead of ourselves. The last time the Bucks made it past the FIRST ROUND of the playoffs was 2001. That is 17 years of not winning a single playoff series. They haven't proven to be at championship level yet. At all.

Eggsactly. Plus we don't have to look far to find a team that had smashing regular season success only to whizz all over themselves against a team with greater playoff experience and talent.

What? Still too soon?

Fair enough, but most of those past Bucks teams have literally nothing in common with this year's juggernaut.

Unless you're ready to predict a 1st round upset by Miami or Brooklyn.

They'll make the 2nd round this year as long as Budenholzer and Giannis are alive and kicking. (I don't know if they will beat Boston or Philly, admittedly.)

There have been a lot of teams that have won a lot of games without being legit championship level teams. Toronto in recent years; Memphis for quite a while; etc. All those teams provided a ton of regular season success but no real threat of winning a ring. Milwaukee hasn't shown which category it is in yet.

As the Atlanta Hawks know all too well, being able to make the second round means nothing as far as championship caliber and even making the conference finals doesn't mean you are a legit contender. If you are just a patsy for the other team to destroy, you aren't championship level. You need to be competitive and have a legit chance to walk away with a ring to be at that level.

Hawks need a top 10 player, a top 20 and a good cast to ever get into the contender range. Before Sap left nearly everyone was recognizing that we needed top talent and the only way the Hawks would ever get it was through the draft.

Hawks fans that have been here for decades know that the Hawks are one of the teams that have NEVER attracted top FAs.

Now we're early in a total rebuild that started from 0 because of prior leadership ineptitude and many think we should climb out of the lottery and make a PO run next season. Sign a big FA this summer... Fans get so desperate for wins that they never want to do it right. Ownership know this so they end up selling the rebuild short with the allure of higher attendance and revenu sooner, even at the cost of REALLY building a contender.

Hawks have already "failed" this season by winning too much. I totally realize that our three young guys are mostly responsible for the winning, but TS is not feilding a tank roster or doing tank moves. He did last season when he finally released the vets.

As much as i love Trae / Collins / Heurter, does anyone think they'll be the core of a champion?

TS has drafted very well. His coach looks good for a rook, Hawks have cap flexibility (of course) but he has been pretty damn lame at everything else. Two offseasons and two deadlines wrapped up and his best is Len. No upward moves, no nice young players acquired through trade / FA, no FA signing that any team is even willing to give a sandwich for and after trading Doncic away it looks like the best talent we're going to get from the draft is already here.

I'm very surprised that so many are so gungho on TS and his plan. I'm still in wait and see, what else can I do, but tons of red flags.

Chris Paul's Clippers NO and Clippers teams are another example of also rans with nice regular season success but that were total non-contenders.

About 8 50+ win seasons
56 wins - three times
57 wins
Paul - 1st Team All-NBA numerous times

Never a contender.

The Bucks may be contenders on the backs of Giannis and a more well rounded roster being smartly utilized by Bud but they have to prove it. Until they actually contend, they are merely a much more dangerous team in the regular season and on paper for the playoffs.

No big FA is going to come here and I do not see any good FA to fill the hole at SF and C, I would try to resign Dedmon and buils through draft, any of Barret, Reddish or Little and any of Bol if healthy, Bassey, Fernando or Gafford in that order for me would be dream scenario

I don’t know about that one AHF. The talking heads always considered the Clips contenders at that time. They had bad luck with injuries and match ups IIRC, but they were legit.
