I can't get over the win. I was optimistic going in because Giannis was out and we cleaned up. This is a win indictive of a playoff team.
I think the Key to your Statement was Giannis was out.

We should've signed Clifford instead of JV back in 2012. Smh.

Maybe so. It goes beyond this game though. I just like what Clifford has done with this roster this year. Guys like Isaac, Briscoe, and Birch are really coming on at the right time of the season, AG is being used as a playmaker, and everyone is playing hard and competing every night.
As a fan of this team its hard to root against that. They are never tanking so there is no point in rooting for losses anyways. I've pretty much conceded that we are looking at a 9-13 pick this year.
Not everything is about tanking or hoping for losses. A team without their MVP caliber player changes the game drastically. Milwaukee probably looked at the schedule and considered it an off night, especially without Giannis. Do you think Orlando wins a game in a 7 game series? That being said, I like what Clifford has done with this roster with the obvious lack of talent.
I disagree with the last part of your last sentence... I also like what Clifford does, but a lack of talent?... Nah, i disagree.

Orlando's defense was fantastic and the defensive rebounding was outstanding.
Antetokounmpo playing might mean the Magic wins by 8-12 points. But this win came from teamwork.

Briscoe is sooooo much better than Grant. Grant is a dumpster fire at PG. Now that Briscoe is getting comfortable he is taking what the defense is giving him and setting his teammates much better than Grant ever could. We should cut Grant and pick up Alex Abrines. He has not shot the 3 well this year but he has a track record of good 3pt shooting.

Having a backup PG who actually has point guard skills helps quite a bit for sure. Grant has tunnel vision.
And Birch for now is clearly a better player than Bamba so him playing would help us get more wins. His screens are really helping on offense and he just hustles so much on both ends.

Agree on Birch, he just knows how to play and help the team. Bamba still has a lot to learn.Bergmaniac wrote:Having a backup PG who actually has point guard skills helps quite a bit for sure. Grant has tunnel vision.

I really like where Iwundu's game has gone. He's developing more confidence in his jumper. Plays hard on defense and not afraid to put the ball on the floor. I like that he's not a ball stopper. Him becoming a solid rotation guy would be huge. Every good team takes advantage of their draft picks like this.
Shout out to Melvin Frazier Jr. for getting his celebratory windmill dunk in. Very few opportunities for the Magic 3rd string to get garbage time and MFJ had to air it out.

Plus our starting point guard was out with a shoulder injury

Agreed. Iwundu was a joke on the court last year and now looks like he belongs out there. He's one of our better guys at getting to the rim and now he actually finishing. He's becoming a solid 7-8th guy off the bench or even a decent trade piece (for upside!) in the future.

My argument is not what the magic can control but this was not indicative of a playoff team since Giannis was out. In the NBA one man does make a team, look at the Cavs this year compared to last year if you need an example. And Middleton is a guy who made the All-Star team because of record not because he actually deserved it aka Mo Williams. If you don't believe me go to the Bucks forum. Not trying to put down the Magic but this was not impressive.

Amazed that a 3-13 shooting night for 7 points led to a team high +22 . The whole Magic backcourt played some fantastic perimeter defense.
Admittedly I wasn’t watching for all of the intricacies of team defense but Evan had a ton of defensive lapses last night
