Re: 2018/2019 NBA draft talk: Who should be our target? (Poll)
I don't see the Orlando finishing worse than 10th in the draft order given the current standings.
New York, Cleveland, Chicago, Phoenix and Atlanta will definitely be worse, but the Magic are firmly in that next group with Memphis, Washington, Detroit and Minnesota and should settle in somewhere between 6th and 10th.
Here's my top 10 for the Magic specifically.
1. Zion Williamson
2. RJ Barrett
3. Ja Morant
4. Cam Reddish
5. Jarrett Culver
6. Darius Garland
7. Keldon Johnson
8. Romeo Langford
9. Nassir Little
10. Kevin Porter Jr.
Outside of Zion who is the clear cut No. 1 prospect, I went entirely with wings and points. This is all with present roster construction taken into consideration. If the Magic were to lose Vucevic in free agency or trade one of Gordon or Isaac this summer, the board would adjust and 4s and 5s would potentially come into play.

Re: 2018/2019 NBA draft talk: Who should be our target? (Poll)
As the team is presently constructed. And if Fultz works out. I'd like Cam the most. Added shooting and will only get better with his shot in the pros. Then Keldon. Haven't watched much of him but seems like a good shooter. Then Little because he is an Orlando kid ha. Plus feel like he hasn't had the chance at UNC to blossom. Should have went to UF
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

Now that Fultz is on the roster, I think it changed things only slightly. He’s still a huge mystery and could easily not work out. Therefore, drafting a guard as the best “fit” is still on the table.
Im looking at skillsets more than anything -
Outside shooting, the ability to create, getting to the line, and perimeter defense.
Any guard or wing with those skills should be the focus for this current rosters needs.

Agreed.
Unless Fultz returns before the season ends and looks healthy, his presence in no way, shape or form should keep Weltman and Hammond from drafting Morant or Garland if they are the best player available when the Magic are on the clock.
Fultz right now is nothing more than a wait and see. No plans should be altered at all because he's on the roster.

I see that a lot of people are high on Garland, but don't you think it's too risky to draft a guy that has played only 5 games in the NCAA? We might be wasting another pick in an injury-phrone player.
I think we should go for a wing player, a healthy one that has bball skills.

Garlands injury isn't a long term concern, he'll be healthy for workouts before the draft, he does everything we need on this team. He's a big combo guard which should pair really well with BIG.
I don't think its a big risk as long as he looks good in workouts. Kyrie only played 11 games.

Morant
Barrett
Garland
Culver
Reddish
Hachimura
We won’t be bad enough for Zion and probably not bad enough for half of this list.

The addition of fultz definitely quells the NEED to shoot specifically for a point guard.... and a playmaking wing would be great in my opinion. BUT... that definitely won't make me turn a blind eye away from Garland at this point. He will definitely have a lot of things that would look like great additions to this team. And the one thing i do love about fultz is that he is big enough to play the sg position with his weight and length. Along with that ... we will now have 2 playmakers in the back court capable of getting into the defense... and garland's jump shot and still developing decision making allows them both to share the ball handling duties in the backcourt. IF he is the BPA available... I'll pull the trigger... as both insurance for Fultz and even a future back court running mate as well.

There are a ton of wings in this class lucky for us. If we can somehow get another mid-late first it would be great.

I'm out Hachimura for now. I just don't see him as a 3. To me, he feels like more of a 4 who can do a little bit of 3 than a full time wing.
If the Magic were to move one of Gordon or Isaac, I'd be way more interested. I like the rest of the names on your list though.

Though his season has been lackluster.... Cam Reddish really intrigues me. He would be amazing as our SG of the future to replace fournier. Being on such a talented team and just taking on the role of 3nD wing.... has limited his true potential in the ncaa. Hope he takes a small and lands in a range that we can select him.
6'9" with a 7'1" wing span... can make plays with the ball in his hands... can play D when locked in and unlimited offensive potential once he becomes more consistent. I like the mix of him and fultz in the backcourt... and yes i believe his 3 point shot will come around nicely. He just gives me a paul george/tracy mcgrady lite type of vibe.

Yeah, Reddish had a woeful December and January which pulled his numbers right down. But in November he shot 43% on 7.3 3PAs a game over 7 games. In February, he's shooting 45% on 9.6 3PAs per game. He also looks to be driving a lot more, and when he drives you can see that he knows how to shake a defender, and his finishes are silky smooth. The Tmac/Paul George comps are exactly what I'm feeling. Plus, he gets his hands in lanes on defense, too.
My order would be:
Morant
Barrett
Reddish
Garland
Keldon Johnson
And that's about it. I'm not that fussed by the other wing prospects I've seen so far. Even if we lucked into the #1 pick, I'm not sure if it's better to take Zion and look to trade Gordon/Isaac for a wing, or to trade down to take Morant/Barrett and pick up extra future assets.
I'd also look to take a 2nd round flier on Antoine Davis if he declares. Kid is shooting 40% from 3 on 11.8 attempts a game. He just flat out knows how to shoot the ball. That's about it though. He'd be a bench guard, and you'd want to partner him with a playmaking wing. Still, that kind of bomber would be nice to have.

If Fultz turns out to be our star PG, then I think CamRed rounds out the starting 5 perfectly. But RJ definitely could work as well.

i knew he was looking better as the season went on... but didn't know that it was that level of improvement. Thanks for the numbers.... lol.... i want him more now. And this is with the ball out of his hands as a play maker.

Sadly, I don't think there's any way we'll know what the Magic actually have in Fultz before the draft.
If he doesn't play at all, Weltman and Hammond have to go into the offseason like he doesn't exist.

Need to draft a shooting guard that has the potential to break into starting lineup.
