Eating Crow: VOL. Jonathan Isaac

Post#1 » by Magic_Johnny12 » Mon Feb 11, 2019 2:49 am

I think it's only right to make a dedicated post for all the posters that either slept on or gave up on our beloved Jonathan Isaac a little too early.

All I want is to hear that you proudly eat crow and that you're back on the Isaac hype train.

It seems as the majority of this board wanted him traded and there was constant unwarranted criticism (basically his rookie season).

In the past 5 games hes been averaging 13.3PPG/8.2RPG/2.8BPG/1.5SPG and shooting over 90% from the charity stripe.

Still has much to improve offensively but he's transforming right in from of our eyes.

If he stays healthy and can play 30+ minutes a game, one day he will be Defensive Player of the Year. He is that special.

Never been off his bandwagon. He showed flashes last season of what he could be. Had a slow start of the season, but man he's gonna be good. That one player every team needs on the PO.

Needs to get rid of the load up before he takes a shot. I feel like a lot of his passing on shots is that he doesn't feel he can get it off. Needs a quicker trigger

Yep he’s been playing good. Apparently the rookie-sophomore snub got him going. Nice to see it. It was the only thing missing from his game.

Issac has been playing well lately, and he’s showing some of that potential we’ve all seen in him. Getting significant court time is what he’s needed, and it’s happening and he’s becoming a very important contributor for the team. His defensive instincts helped him get minutes, now the game is slowing down and he’s giving some nice offensive contributions now. If he keeps it up the Magic have a gem on their hands. I’ve always liked him.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Yeah, because giving up on 20 year old projects after barely a season of development is literally the best thing this franchise can do...

I understand the lack of patience but goodness this is where we're at, at this point... You've got to have some restraint when it comes to guys like Bamba/Issac and now Fultz. Got all the rall tools to become good-to-great players. Just have to wait on it...

Nobody ever questioned his defensive ability.

I still retain the belief that Isaac would be insurmountably more efficient, either next to or as a Center, and perimeter scorers. Him and AG on the court together isn’t as effective.

Hes played less than 80 nba games and some people were already calling him a bust? It's "fans" like that on why pharmaceutical companies make billions off antipsychotics pills

On the bright side, fans like that is how we ended up with Markelle Fultz who was given up on after 33 games.

Good point. Jury still out on Fultz. He has a long road ahead so we'll see what he ends up as. Either way for what we traded for him, it's worth the wait. I'm still shocked we were able to keep Tross. Weltman and Hammond have not disappointed

IMO it's because people have crazy personal expectations or are comparing situations of players in different situations/who have different skill sets. They'll see Tatum, or Lauri, or Mitchell, or Doncic, and see we need scoring, and take it out on Isaac for not being that far advanced at this moment (or ever). If Isaac maxes out as this uber role player that can do a little bit of everything WITH elite defense, that is extremely valuable to a team. Move other pieces to acquire that star or scorer that we need, but we shouldn't give up on any young player in their first or second years unless we know we are getting back a surefire 5+ year starter because otherwise we risk losing out on really good eventual players like we have in the past.

I don't read everything on the board but people wanted to trade him? For real?

So long as I know all of my lengthy posts in defense of Isaac were worth it, I don’t need to see anyone eat crow. I need to justify to myself all the time I spend here. ;)
