Target is doing their Buy 2 Get 1 free for video games.

I haven't had much time for my Switch, and when I start getting time I'm probably jumping back into Smash.

That said wouldn't mind adding a few more for the Switch collection. What are some games people recommend?

I already have SSB, Mario Odyssey, BoTW, MK8, and Rocket League. That still seems to be the list of essentials.

Not all games are eligible so here's what looked interesting based on what is:

Mario+Rabbids (how does it compare to other Mario games?)
DK Tropical Freeze (if I sort of enjoyed DK64?)
FIFA 18/19 (any huge features in 19 or noticeable performance difference on switch version?)
FF XII (never played any FF, but same with Zelda prior to BoTW)
Mega Man 11 (never played any MM)

Would also consider WWE 2K18 if the performance isn't **** (it can be pretty bad on PC no matter the hardware so would be curious). Same could be said for NBA 2k.

Might also consider either Dragonball Xenoverse or FighterX if people have glowing reviews, but otherwise could see myself not touching those if I were to buy.

I don't know the exact details, but only select Switch titles are included. So don't get your hopes up before researching it.

Yeah, I only listed games that were included since that burned me once before.

Really surprised nobody else has posted about playing Apex Legends, I’m having a great time.

I played the **** out of it yesterday with friends. I'm loving it. I find it to be 100x better than Fortnite (still can't catch PUBG in my mind) and plan to keep playing. The games start way faster, the mechanics seem to work well and the ping system is great. Best $0.00 I've spent.

I've never given battle royale games much thought; I'd play Fortnite or Blackout when my friends asked me to (and enjoy Blackout with them quite a bit), but I'd never really thought about how BR games could be improved upon until Apex came out. The pinging system, group drops where the "jumpmaster" can control all of your squadmates, the character-specific abilities...Apex made some really cool and seemingly innovative design choices that really put this game a tier above all the other BR games that I've tried so far.

One thing I would like to see is even more differential between classes. I still feel like any team composition will work, but if it was even more like Overwatch where it's critical to have a full squad planned out I would lose my ****. Such a fantastic game that I think will push BR games even further.

If any of you need someone for Apex on PC, I'm always down. Still getting the hang of it, but I'm coming along.

Mario + Rabbids is wonderful. It is not a Mario game at all - it's an SRPG with Mario characters. I really enjoyed it.

DK Tropical Freeze is a game I wish I didn't buy. Many love it. I did not. It's too different from DKC1-3, and the changes - IMO - are all for the worse. You don't use the side-kick character as a main character (i.e. you are always Donkey Kong) and instead just use minor and similar "bonuses" from each; the controls feel slow; the bosses are overly difficult/long - like each boss has 3 stages, each with 3 stages, and when you screw up you do it all over again. You can legit spend an hour defeating a boss. That's not a good way to add meat to a game. Meh. I was super underwhelmed and it was my most regretted $60 spend last year.

Haven't played the rest on Switch, but I plan to get FF12 myself.

Ever play Mario RPG for SNES? Might be my favorite of all time, but I wasn't really impressed with Paper Mario. Along those lines or is this a different style of RPG?

Turn-based RPG so a lot different. Like Civ or Advanced Wars if you played either, but Mario and Rabbids.

Anyone with Vive lighthouses and controllers they aren't using that want to sell them for a reasonable price or even rent them out for 6 months?

I got a Pimax headset and waiting on the controllers and lighthouses until Q3...if ever.

I haven't played any of those games on Switch, but I've played FIFA '19 and 2k19 for PS4. The FIFA '19 version on switch is a slimmed down version playing on an older graphics engine. 2k19 is the same game on Switch, but with lower graphics (though not major).

I played FIFA '19 on the PS4 for about a month before being pulled away by RDR2, Smash, and Civ. I thought it was fine; not a dramatic difference from any prior iteration. Loved the addition of the Champions League. But all I've read over the last couple months is folks bashing EA for ruining FIFA with their timed shooting mechanic and some of the silly timing issues with the defending. I did not notice that, personally, but I'm not as hardcore as some folks are. My bigger issue with FIFA was they made virtually no improvements to the only mode I really ever buy FIFA to play - Career mode.

By this, do you mean for example that you'd press a button to grab onto a vine or something and it just wouldn't grab on so you'd fall to your death? I assumed this was just my controller dying or something but I had so many issues with the responsiveness of DK when I was playing it a lot. Didn't even consider that it was a game issue rather than a controller issue.

Not specifically what I meant, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was an issue also - I possibly just didn't play enough to recall that now. I was thinking of how slows and clunk it felt to move around and do general moves like jumping or turning around. Considering this, vine grabs would make sense as an issue, too.

So when we thinking Fire Emblem comes out? April - July? I feel like if Nintendo is dedicating a lot to it in this Direct, it has to be coming sooner than later. They tend to focus on things that are coming soon, rather than hype something up that's 6 months, 9 months, several years out.

That would be awesome, but I think this is something a lot of people like, being able to carry their teammates if they have to. I love Overwatch and how much it emphasizes teamplay. It's one of the few games where it feels like you're as reliant on your teammates as actual sports - one person really can't win it alone - but that's super frustrating to some people.
