Bagley played the majority of his minutes against our 2nd unit and was doing whatever the hell he wanted against Holmes. He only played against Ayton for a few minutes. Bagley also got 11 of those points from the FT line, where the ref's were giving him Anthony Davis like treatment.

Feels like people say this about Doncic and to some degree, JJJr too. If all these other top rookies are able to draw fouls and Ayton isn't, then perhaps its Ayton doing something wrong rather than them getting preferential treatment.

Ayton shys away from contact often when he's in the paint. If he actually absorbed the contact (kinda like rookie Amare/rookie Griffin etc) then he'd get more calls in his favor imo.

Bagley isn’t as skilled offensively as Ayton but he plays with Holmes type effort (or more).

His motor was always his strongest attribute and its translated well.

I’d kill to get HALF that type off effort from Ayton.

I'd kill to get a PG like Fox that could get Ayton the ball like they did Bagley.

Not to beat the Doncic horse but this is another reason why I wanted Luka over Ayton and I would rather have just had a defensive (Capela type) center at the 5 instead.

With perimeter players you don't have to worry about having to get them the ball because they can just get in on the inbound and dribble it up. With centers like Ayton, they have to be spoonfed passes, layups and post entries.

Would've been so much easier to just have drafted a perimeter player and not have to worry about that type of stuff with a defensive C who doesn't need to touch the ball at all.
