Is it possible for the Warriors to sign Kawhi?

What do you think the actual likelihood is that KD will sign with the Knicks?

Like, not the cliche sports over-exaggerated confidence version.

I dont know, I dont see it. Even with him that team would be lucky to make it to the 2nd round. They've currently lost 17 straight games, I dont know how that would be appealing to him. Might as well just go to the Wizards if you wanna be close to home, even they have a better roster than NYK lol.

I say it's 30% at best.

If Durant signs with the Knicks as they are now his title chances are 0.0%. I don't think he's willing to totally throw away his remaining prime years like that.
Even if Irving signs also the Knicks would not be favored to win. They are that bad right now.

Just the Knicks winning some games and some postseason would make Kevin Durant even more of a legend with the Knicks.
If New York ends up drafting Zion Williams and signing Kevin Durant, it's a fantastic start to building a winner.

if the knicks can sign another top tier FA (ie Kyrie) with KD.

Then have the top pick plus other young assets to trade for another star (like AD). How would they not be title contenders?

His company (and his agent) have always been based in NYC. They simply moved from one building to another. It's a non-story. That article talking about moving was clickbait.

That being said, I think KD going to the Knicks is a done deal. There is no way the Knicks would've moved their best asset just to clear more cap space if they didn't get an assurance he was coming.

And really, look at it from a Warriors perspective. Plenty of stars want to move because they were stuck in what was perceived as a situation where they couldn't win. This isn't the case here. The Warriors put him in a position to win 2 Finals MVPs. They've given the best platform to win. Yet KD has still refused to commit long term.

Suffice to say, winning isn't the issue to KD, or at least it no longer is because he now has 2 championships and 2 Finals MVPs. He can scratch that off his list. He's pretty much now in Lebron mode, where he wants to build his brand and shape his post playing career in a large and influential media market.

I agree with your overall point but KD doesn't exactly have the LeBron legacy. It's a basketball decision to lead a major market team and do some damage in the PO's. Very different than what LeBron has done.

So you guys are still going to quibble if he joins what is one of the worst teams in the NBA currently?.

How would it be different from LeBron exactly, other than Miami having won a title much more recently than the current Knicks at the time of “The Decision”. And in the case of LeBron’s move back to Cleveland, the Seattle Supersonics don’t exist any more so he can’t go back to the city which drafted him. As I have said previously, if there happens to be a Seattle team for him to go to during the remainder of his career there is a strong chance he would go there imo.

I think 110% is a little too low to be honest.

I agree that he wouldn’t necessarily need to win championships there to be a Knicks legend. Perpetual 2nd round for 3-4 years and he’d be a hero and get his jersey retired.
