I really hope Dončić doesn't become a Harden-clone in "working" the game/refs to get fouls. I strongly dislike watching Harden play and I'd loathe if the same happened with Luka.

using advanced stats to compare a player with 703 minutes of gametime to one with 1610. this, in addition to the recent bagley overreactions, has got ayton at critically underrated status to me.

He gets a lot of questions about his performance, views about NBA, players, idols, etc ... and everyone expect some smart answers from this teenager while he barely moved overseas (after exhausting year winning EuroBasket, winning Euroleague...), still adapting and learning about things around him. I bet it's more like:

reminds me of this Image

Per 36/72 whatever numbers are one of the silliest stats out there. If Robinson was as good as Ayton, he would play the same amount of minutes. It's not like he has guys like Davis and Jokič ahead of him in the rotation

this is where sensitivity must be in the picture. Cause the graphic is not saying he is as good as Ayton. If you think that Graphic is saying he is on par with Ayton then yall looking to deep into it and just want to have something to say. That Graphic is more about how good Mitch has been playing than its saying he is on the same tier as Ayton . We have all seen both play all season long. How can the graphic be saying he has played as well as ayton all year long  . I love how those against it add they own narrative to what it says. LOL.

If both keep progressing to become a better version of themselves, I am far more confident in Mitch's ability to impact winning at the NBA level. First thing I look at with bigs is the ability to protect the rim (and then to finish at the rim) and Mitch is on another level compared to Ayton, who to be fair has somewhat exceeded my expectations overall this season.

Before anyone says I'm a homer, I believe Frank will be out of the league soon, I am really low on Kevin Knox right now and believe he should be benched and I never thought KP was a franchise player let alone a great player with the Knicks.

How has Ayton's stock fallen so far already?
This guy was most people's consensus #1 pick and IMO he still has one of the highest, if not the highest, ceiling in this draft.

Big body, soft touch, great rebounder - he just needs some more NBA experience under his belt (like ALL the rookies).
Most of the people in this thread are too quick to jump to conclusions and when they do it's due to unrealistic expectations for a rookie.

Yup. Per 36: 19/12 on 61 TS%. I think he is putting up really good production while also making a good impact on the game. He just happens to be surrounded with a horrible team. Just think once he extends his range out to the 3pt area. I was slightly higher with Bagley over Ayton before the draft and I still feel that way. But nothing about Ayton's play should have anyone doubting his potential. The dude has been a stud.

I had Ayton as a 16/10/5 (assists) guy and he's proving to be that, if not more. His size has translated. And so has his touch.

Performance wise, he's fine. I just think the expectations were abnormally high for him. He wasn't a generational talent--folks were saying his combo of size and athleticism rare. But he's a dime a dozen in the league. Each team has someone with his physical attributes--WCS, Whiteside, Mitchell Robinson...

Plus the motor issues, which seems to be bigger than most assumed. I also think Booker and Ayton hate playing with each other. Seemed to be the case when they played the Kings on Sunday.

More raw you’re, less you’re playing, against lesser competitions and there is more room for vivid imagination aka. Ceiling. Per 36 numbers is fantastic tool to help this vivid imagination.

Ayton has in contrast to some others at least showed he can play and stay in court for 30 minutes against best Cs in the league.

Trae Young has been balling as of late.

Over his last 28 games he’s averaging 18/8 on 45% from the field, 39% from 3, and 81% from the line. While he may never be as good as Doncic, he definetly has all star potential.

I look at it like this i think he will be close enough to Doncic over their career that the Hawks won't be upset about the trade between them 2. But if the guy the Hawks pick up from the Mavs pick comes in and does anything even remotely descent like a all star quality player the hawks probably win that trade. Doncic as of right now is better but Trae has the talent to be as good if not better than Doncic in the long run.

Huerter also has a lowkey high ceiling, he is inconsistent, but his good games are really, really good.
