Based on that I'd say trying to resign both Vucevic and Ross using Bird rights is the best way forward because the cap situation will not allow us to sign comparable FA replacements for both of them. The alternative would be to let both of them walk and to try to dump salary to gain more budget for FA signings, for example Augustine's $7.25 million if we think that Fultz can start.

Weltman has said he was really close to blowing up TOR's perennial playoff team. He does not think at all in terms of a playoffs team being the goal. It's a much higher goal.. like elite contender.

I think AG and Mo could become cornerstone pieces as well. Also, I think Briscoe, Ross and Birch will end up solid role players on a deep playoff Magic team in 2-3 years. If these young kids keep developing, they could become dangerous and none of them are close to their ceilings yet.

The Magic are very likely going to win somewhere between 10-15 games more than they did last year.

Even if their ultimate ceiling isn't elite contender level, the case can easily be made that things are trending upward.

If Weltman/Hammond truly believe that Fultz can return to his draft form, then you are basically adding a top 3 caliber lotto pick to a 35-40 win roster.

Combine that with what appears to be rapid development from Isaac and hopefully the same from Bamba and who knows how much higher the ceiling actually becomes.
