Fire Luke Walton / Replacement Thread

Post#1 » by Ballerhogger » Wed Feb 13, 2019 3:20 am

Look he’s had enough time at Head Coach to make our team defense better . Last year we were bad and this year were worst. The line ups of lance, rondo , whoever is killing us right now . . I think he’s very likebale guy but it’s time to go. We can discuss Lebron vs Luke take but that hardly the point . These line ups are terrible . Top to bottom. I don’t understand where he gets these lineups from. We were good when we went with big line up. . Not small line up. We are not the warriors.

Time
Fire Luke Walton , thanks for the time Luke.

As replacement I would like to see Kurt Rambis , or outside force to come in for the rest of the year.

Aside from completely botching the grammaticals... I can't quite get my head around a thread calling for Luke to be fired without thought about who might replace him...

I think we all assume at this point that Luke getting fired is a probability... But calling for his head seems a little short sighted...

So I'm inclined to lock this up, unless we make it about who might replace Luke instead... My gut says, if we do that, there will be a whole lot fewer fans calling for his head.

No reason to apologize... It's not invalid, just maybe not all that productive... I'm just suggesting a way to turn it positive.

I don't like the coach in Byron, but hell yeah... Kidd is a lousy cheating C minus coach.

I want Rondo as "player-coach" Slide Luke into assistant coach. He has high basketball IQ. LeBron did say Rondo was co captain of the squad. I think LeBron will listen. Rondo rallies the troops better than Luke.

Another option is to trade for a coach with the Clippers for Doc. They are tanking anyways...

I don’t necessarily have an affinity for Luke in any way, but the options after him are as bad or worse to me

Exactly. I don't understand the rush to fire Luke and replace him with someone with a worse track record to coach a deeply flawed roster. Even then, I'd be more inclined to give him a chance with an improved roster if/when we upgrade this summer, because I do still believe he's a good coach who has a chance to improve, and its not like there's a plethora of super attractive alternatives that'll actually be available in the near future. Big no on names like Jason Kidd or Kurt Rambis or Brian Shaw.

This team played defense better than most just a couple of months ago. At some point, the players themselves have to account for what's going on out there on the court.

I see Kidd can be what Obi Wan Kenobi is to Skywalker for Lonzo... Kidd perhaps can turn Lonzo into a beast!!! And no doubt will have the respect from the vets including LeBron! Sure things didn’t work out in Milwaukee but if Lue was at the helm and had no issues during LeBron 4 straight finals, why not Kidd...

Why would a respected guy with lifelong job security and good pay want to become lerich Paul’s scapegoat?

To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

Lakers win an inspired comeback game against Boston and everyone is happy!

Magic then shows up in Philly to give the team a talk about the trade deadline, Lakers lose by 20. Magic travels with the team to Atlanta, Lakers lose to one of the bottom-dwelling team in the league.

That said if you are firing him, get someone like Kobe To do the job. Kobe is perfect for the role imo

If they do move on from Luke, they’ll just move in Brian Shaw or someone like Byron as a temporary interim coach who takes the job as a favor to Magic. They’d wait til this offseason when they can fully canvass all candidates and coordinate their free agency hunt with their coaching search.

This is the only reason I would want Kidd as a Coach ... Because I think we should be running the offense through Lonzo not Lebum. Let Lonzo bring the ball up and the ball should be in his hands 80% of the time :)
