There is a HUGE economic literature about unconditional and conditional cash transfers and how effective they are at reducing poverty. You shouldn't cherry pick just one study.

The Journal of Economic Perspectives has an article summarizing recent research:

https://economics.mit.edu/files/15434

Targeting the poor with conditional cash transfers works best in poor countries where most people don't pay taxes.

In high income countries you can get better results from ubi.

UBI primarily gives you a source of self-financing for entrepreneurial activity. High income countries tend to have higher fixed barriers to starting a business, so the UBI would have to be pretty high to have an observable effect.

Here's another one, about a UBI in Kenya:

https://www.princeton.edu/~joha/publications/Haushofer_Shapiro_UCT_2016.04.25.pdf

Also the super amazing superstar of anthropology James Ferguson has a whole book about it called "give a man a fish"
I've been taught all my life to value service to the weak and powerless.

candace owens is so amazing. i cant wait until she runs for office. she'll win in a land slide and then proceed to body slam Iman and Ocasio.

nothing would make me happier than to see Owens as the first female president.

I think SD20 was trolling for attention with that one. Candace Owens is a charlatan and doesn't believe anything she's actually saying

or even when on the talking point. i mean, the entire conceit of her tweet is blaming the education system for blame-shifting.

that's harsh criticsm for owens. I dont think its fair at all. and i'm wondering where it comes from cuz it sounds kinda racist and sexist to be honest. you Dems really need to stay away from sexist and racist comments and actions. Big problem in Dem land.

so how do you guys feel about a straight 10% flat rate federal sales tax on all goods and services (pre-"write offs").

-zero carve outs.
-zero loop holes.
-remove cash businesses(illegal) and remove cash.
-make all transactions electronic and the tax is taken real time at transaction.
-employers match employee tax by 10%

everyone pays 10% federal tax rate upon receipt of good and or services..everyone. individuals. trusts. foundations. legal settlements. everything. "gifts" would cease to exist.

annual tax revenue would exceed 5-6 trillion. as opposed to current revenue of 3.2 trillion. YOu guys down with this or what??

FTR, large corps and government contractor get hit the hardest. their tax revenue (pay outs) would double.

you down with that or are you fake liberals???

hey guys...sooooooo...do you remember that time...2 years ago when Nate33 and I told you that the Russia thing was a hoax cooked up by the DNC and Steele...and Obama and Comey used it in an attempt to remove Trump from office. And Adam schiff went on CNN 5 times per day to say that Trump was a Russian asset? and me too. seem like 10 years ago. and in many ways it seems like yesterday.

And then all of you bafoons came on here because you actually believed those lies and reposted your fake news spam of all this trump/russia collusion crap??

Remember all that?

and then Comey sicked an IC (mueller) on Trump for 2 years!!! going through every single document...and they got nothing...but 5 or 6 peoples lives have been completely destroyed. specifically manaforte. who's been sitting in prison for loan fraud?? And they fraud was based on incorrectly stating his income....so if you...filled out a loan in 2006...and you said you made 80K but you really made 80,010 because you cut the neighbors lawn for $10...well the federal governemtn can prosecute you for loan fraud.

^^^and you "so-called liberals" applauded those gestapo tactics...all of them (and many more injustices that occured from November 6th 2016 to this very day) just because you lost an election.

Dont you fools understand that accepting the results of an election are the complete and entire basis of our democracy????!!!! <----Thats it!! That's what makes this country stand apart from other countries!!! This is the one thing that is suppose to work!!! Because accepting "majority rule" is the entire basis for real and authentic getting along with each other. accepting each other. ac cepting our differences and respecting one an another out on the street!!! Thats the backbone of our society!!! <---and you imbeciles almost ruined it...tore that structure apart...just because you lost!!

That was the saddest thing Ive ever seen in my life time on a large scale. I told you history would judge you all poorly. Nate told you. We were right. You guys were all wrong. again. Time ofter time you have been wrong.

You guys should accept when people smarter than you have better ideas. Like my 10% tax plan. you should back it up. spread the word. tell others. this is the only righteous path towards economic justice for all.
like i said, its a full rebuild.

Lol, Fox finds their black outliars (without the out) looking to get attention anyway they can - just so Fox can say - "See, I have a black friend! Haha! Nannynannyfoofoo", and maggots watching their favorite sfm (station for morons) are smugly satisfied saying "Duh George, see I tolded you. Black person tuheel tuheel."

I think the problem was the extreme nature of the GND proposal. I read the original proposal before it was taken down and it really is way out there for 80+% of Americans (no plane flights, no dairy, all houses have to be carbon neutral in 10 years, etc., etc..). Basically, they had a very stupid political tactic.

And most Americans perceived that the Ds negotiated in good faith and kept the government open.

Did something happen regarding the Mueller investigation? Roger Stone was indicted like three weeks ago. I'm not going to pay much attention to what random cranks on YouTube say about ~anything.

I would bet against Trump ever being impeached or indicted, and I've never looked at the Mueller probe as some sort of one-outer against Trump or a way to SAVE DEMOCRACY or whatever #Resistance types think. Mueller is a cop, and putting our faith in the FBI or CIA to save us is dystopian. Trump is a symptom, and we're never returning to 'normal' pre-Trump politics, and that shouldn't even be an aspiration.

All that said, Trump is way guilty of a bunch of ****, and it's possible to believe he is super guilty of everything he's accused of and also believe that nothing will come of it because our political system is deeply broken.

Yahoos like SD20 and TGW are just blowing down straw men as usual

My guy, this just happened yesterday:

The **** you talking about with the "no collusion, they found nothing in two years" stuff? The sharing of highly specific and detailed polling data, in particular, is collusion. It's right there, all nicely spelled out for you.
