How NYC Are you?

Post#1 » by 2010 » Fri Feb 15, 2019 6:56 pm

Thinking about how these transplants and corporate heads who move here for jobs have overran MSG and diluted the World's Most Famous Arena and turned our once feared homecourt advantage into a neutral "class-act" zone that merely appreciates NBA basketball by doing chit like cheering for opposing players.

This has me thinking...imagine if the Knicks offered a night for *real* New Yorkers. The ones who understand the culture and the pulse of the other 4 boroughs - not just Manhattan - and called it NYC NIGHT.

• You need to show your birth certificate to get in on NYC Night.

• Or you need to pass a "growing up in NYC" trivia to be able to get in on NYC Night.

Here's the first test question:

Spoiler:
Name this game....

I grew up near Buffalo, but the Knicks were the only NY team when I was a kid, so they became my team. I'm also rooting for the tank at this point, so according to Kevin Knox I'm not a real New Yorker anyway.

I really like your idea of a NYC night for only folks from the 5 Boroughs.

SK was fun, but I preferred 4 square, spread eagle, and stick ball growing up. I spent most of my childhood in Hemstead and was a huge Reggie Jackson fan. I became a Knicks fan when I got into junior high watching Ewing abuse people with just the look on his face. If only P.E was our big man coach.

Now the proper question would be what came on TV at 12pm everyday that made every child think they knew karate?

EDIT: I'm realizing now you meant "the other 4 boroughs", but I'll still use this as an opportunity to leave up a dope pic.

champ, son. (no, it wasn't a league. just all the kids from the block knew what i was about.)

g. dep is a close family friend. grew up with charlie clips. big l inspired me to rap when i was younger. gave advice and support. very nice dude who never fronted on the little ones on the block even when he was blowing up. i cried when he died. in retrospect, being too accessible probably cost him his life.

worked at XXL for 4 years.

all the "spanish girls" at riverbank loved me like i'm aventura. maybe fulanito back then.

totally called the "purple haze" from "up the hill" from the dominicans was really reggie bush sprayed down with 409. when they got busted i told all my haze head friends they were roach spray heads. (why is it sparklin?)

i'm royalty in ANY jamaican restaurant in harlem or the bronx. my face a coupon. can't say why.

trying to think of more.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.
