I think people are flipping out about Kennard not being a great player because he was picked over Mitchell. This franchise has a long and very painful history of taking players that range from ok to terrible over players that range from all-stars to first ballot hall of famers. It's the trauma that we all try to live through by suppressing the pain but occasionally the reality that we could've had Giannis and Kemba next to Dre instead of Knight and KCP or we could have a back court of Booker and Mitchell instead of the dumpster fire we have now... It's just boils over and exploded in irrational rage.

Every single franchise could have been an all-star team if they drafted with 100% perfect hindsight.

Now this comment about Brown/Kennard makes sense. Brown is not near the same league as Kennard offensively. Defensively there are a ton of NBA starters who are mediocre at best. Who gets the big $... offense or defense?

I would rather watch both play a couple of years in the GLeague and see if any of them deserve any minutes at all in the NBA and continue trying to develop Kennard (who has been really bad, on both ends of the floor sadly) and Brown (who has shown promisse but is still a long way to go before he is a real NBA rotation guy. He already developed a corner 3 during the season - which is more than Stanley Johnson did in 4 years - something he didn't have before, but he need more than that to not be a complete liability on offense).

Khyri Thomas could end up being the best of the 4 players we're trying to develop tho.

How in the world can you say Kennard has simpley been just "really bad" but then praise Brown? Brown has been straight trash and is nothing more than a mediocre defensive specialist. Kennard has been up and down but has at least shown the ability to score in multiple ways and surprisingly make plays for others.

When was the last time we did anything significant without one of the best if not the best defender in the league?

Last championship run started when we traded one of the most offensive gifted players in the league (Grant Hill) for possibly the best defender in our history (Ben Wallace).

GSW would have 0 titles without Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, they were awful with Monta and Curry.

Good defenders who can shoot or playmake are always welcome in any team in any era, that's not Brown right now, but doesn't mean Kennard will be more valuable than Brown just because he is the superior offensive talent.

You need to rethink your offense vs defense speech.
