Centrist Democrats want incremental progress only at the behest of their donors - things like tax incentives and flex spending accounts and other bull**** that doesn't actually help anyone. Republicans are obviously evil and want fascism.

There is no vehicle for passing any progressive legislation. There is no reality in which the GND ever becomes law until maybe 2024. Nailing down all of these wonky details you're looking for is a fool's errand because they don't actually matter to voters. If there were more dckingsfans in the world then people like Howard Schultz and Bill Kristol would have a constituency - they don't.

The GND is functionally an Overton Window mover that gets people talking about what matters. The people attacking random arbitrary details in the proposal that would change 100x over between now and when this legislation could actually pass, are 100% doing so in bad faith.

:nonono:

First we preach that we don't want ignorance. Then it is okay to be ignorant. Guess we are okay with voters that are good with the best catch phrase. MAGA vs. GND - you'll never know the details... and they don't matter. Just trust me.

We live in a representative democracy. We don’t need to be policy experts to support policy outcomes. AOC and Bernie are fighting for policy outcomes that I want. I don’t have the time to sift through policy details to determine the impact each thing will have on the deficit or how certain carveouts will impact industry or costs.

The alternative is vote for people who don’t support the policy outcomes I want. That isn’t a reasonable alternative.

Questions for you: what are the policy outcomes you want? “Sustainable government” isn’t an answer. What services do you expect the government to provide and to what extent?

Who in politics do you support? Who would you most support in 2020?

I think that is the crux of your argument. Therefore you don't actually need to understand what is being proposed.

You could make that argument for the other side, no? Edit: I care about the makeup of the SCOTUS therefore I am will to vote for a tax cheat and serial liar.

And what outcomes are they fighting for that you want if you don't know what their policies will actually do? You don't - this is the definition of willful ignorance.

I...disagree.

Howard Schultz and his ilk clearly have their own agendas. But if you're dismissing the great majority of anyone's critics (even within the same party), I think you might be ignoring any valid criticisms mixed with the less credible ones.

What are the credible criticisms? That the GND isn't perfectly optimized legislation? There's a lengthy process for vetting and improving legislation as it goes through Congress. Treating the GND like it's on the verge of becoming law is the definition of bad faith.

So, first is it a manifesto or real proposals. I think it is more a manifesto? But they want to be taken seriously (as in a serious proposal).

Originally, the GND was posted as needing to be done in the next 10 years. They took this down to due to the ridiculous nature of the "proposal". Getting rid of dairy, air travel and having carbon neutral housing in ten years... :noway: And that doesn't even take on the costs - which are enormous (and the answers have been disingenuous).

Because of the missteps - it has been hard to take the GND team seriously. I think the onus is now on the GND folks to break out serious proposals from their manifesto.

FTR, i stopped consuming dairy almost entirely 8 years ago. i'm 99.99% dairy free. never felt better. the human gut and body is not intended to consume another mammal's milk.

I do eat meat....rarely...occaisionally and in small portions but I dont consume their milk (in any fashion)...

no dairy at all except a very occasional slice of pizza...maybe 1-2 slices per year. I recommend each and everyone of you do the same. Further. even though i do consume meat/seafood/poultry i've reduced my consumption by over 90%. I eat a maximum of (1-2) 6 oz servings of free range grass fed red meat per MONTH...basically...i'm a non red meat/non dairy consumer 99.99% of my food. The rest of my diet is mostly vegan...about 95% of my diet...with some occasional small portioned...wild seafood or some free range grass/whole grain fed game birds like goose, duck, pheasant sometimes chicken that are locally hunted by a local hunting and farm to table org. And i refuse to eat any kind of fast food that uses caged animals or corn fed animals.

So if you lazy libs. really want to make a "green difference." do that^^^ Stop eating red meat and dairy!!!! It really is that simple!!!!!

Nothing is stopping you but your lazy arse self. you dont need regulations. If you all boycotted mcdonalds, wendys's, burger king, popeyes, KFC, and harolds, every non vegan pizza joint then you would NOT need the regulations. Because the GOP soccor moms and dads i know are already way out in front and not buying these products that are less healthy and leave large carbon footprints.

ya know...it funny...i'll bet my diet is the most "green" diet on this website...greener that 99% of you. maybe 1 of you is a pure vegan. maybe 1. Me..."the trumper"...has the cleanest diet. My fiance is similar as I am. we buy green. we eat green. we are 95-99% vegan depending on the week...often 100%. we consume green/organic. we dont buy if you test on any kind of animal. etc etc. We recycle rain water at all of our rental properties. Me..."the trumper." I traded in my last gas guzzler 3 years ago year for a toyota hybrid.

And I'll bet my last dollar that almost none of you are any where near as environmentally conscious as I am...me..."the trumper." :noway: :noway:

Oh STD, you are such an irrepressibly uber dude. I think we have all learned a very valuable lesson today about personal responsibility and humility.

PS: You have 11,111 posts right now. Such a perfect number. Don't do anything that might alter it.

These Dem candidates that don't want to get rid of the filibuster can't be taken seriously.

If you support the filibuster you support McConnell having a veto over everything, which means you don't want M4A, voting rights, DC statehood, etc...

Russian collusion looks like a lock that just hasn't dropped yet. Mueller has Stones coms to Wikileaks, in another filing he mentions “a senior Trump campaign official was directed to contact STONE about any additional releases of damaging information.” We know that other indictments are waiting to drop too.

hey guy...you ever take a step back and listen to all that crap...i mean really listen to it...the amount of mental gymnastics you must be willing to make to put the blame of any of that at the hands of trump, or any of Trump's is jut beyond realism.

let's not forget:

1. The DNC was hacked or emails were stolen.
2. At the time those emails were stolen Seth Rich (THE DNC IT tech for about a year prior) was murdered in some type of weird robbery where they didn't steal anything or use his credit cards or anything like that. Amateur hour "stick up" murder without the amateur hour use of credit card after the murder. and no clues?!! meanwhile jussiesmollet's amateur hour hate crime has been completely exposed in 2 weeks. We got the guys who did it. The mastermind behind it. and now we are going to wrap up any of that fake crime's tentacles.
3. Wikileaks is no different than a journalism site. They have sources just like CNN does. What is the big difference between CNN's "leaks" and sources and Wikileak's leaks and sources??

^^^^cuz i know the single and sole difference...that being that wiki"leaks" exposed the obama administration...made Obama and the democrats look bad...thats it!! Thats the big difference. And Obama's DOJ went after anything and everyone who leaked info harmful to Obama's administration.

meanwhile everything negative against trump has been leaked for over 2 years.

and if the illegal leaks meant to harm Trump and the Trump administration weren't enough, obama holdovers in the DOJ launched this entire investigation into trump to get him on something...anything.

And why?? because he wants to build a phuckin wall around the southern border to stop drugs and illegal immigration and human trafficking!!?? Or because he wants better trade deals?? because he wants to rebuild the military?? or was it because he wants to give businesses and individuals a tax break??

Bottom line...wikileaks is nothing more than a journalism site. They should have watchdog status. and their leakers and sources are all criminals just like CNN's and MSNBC leakers and sources are all criminals and all the material they possess is stolen...all of them...So again...why are we singling out Wikileaks!!!!! And the answer is because Obama and his DOJ punished watchdogs and leakers like NO OTHER ADMINISTATION in the history of this country.

And then in 2016-2017 all of Obama's NSA, FBI, DOJ, TSA, and DHS official went to work for CNNN!!!! To leak bad stuff on the Trump administration!~!!!

On its surface, this entire ordeal is a joke. A farce. A political ploy. But at its roots...this is exactly who the democrats are...the most disgusting vile group and animals on the planet. Their ranks are packed with pedophiles, murderers, corrupted officials of the highest order, and they get away with it because they still have most of the poor convinced that they represent them...which they dont...because "the poor" and working poor and lower and middle-middle class keep getting poorer!!!!! Imagine that!!! On top of all that...if that isn't bad enough, democrats are the biggest liars, and fakers on the entire planet. Just disgusting individuals.

Everything. They. Do. Is. A. Lie. It's the party of deception. And they are getting exposed. One by one. Each and every one of their lies is slowly being untangled. Former democrats like me are discovering their trails of lies by the dozens. daily. Their is a mass exodus of the party. The Clinton/Obama democrats will cease to exist in short order. that's how awful both of these corrupt individuals are and how bad both families were to american politics. True liberals have moved to the far far far left of them and true reformers have moved to the far far right of them. Their politics are completely dead.

And for good reason. It doesn't work!!! there are 2 masters that you absolutely can NOT effectively serve...the very rich and the very poor. Its impossible to serve both. Intuitively, the logic of serving both the rich and the poor falls flat on its face.
like i said, its a full rebuild.

cool. i agree. now what say you about kamala Harris' judgement in general on this very topic and her judgement of what is or isn't a "kind and gentle human being?" cuz it looks like she is easily bamboozled and out in broad day light, right?

I kinda hope the cops just flat out making stuff up to make Jussie look bad. Unlikely but I'd believe anything at this point.

Florida sixth-grader charged with misdemeanor after refusing to recite Pledge of Allegiance

A Florida student is facing misdemeanor charges after a confrontation with his teacher that began with his refusal to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and escalated into what officials described as disruptive behavior.

The student, a sixth-grader at Lawton Chiles Middle Academy in Lakeland, Fla., east of Tampa, refused to stand for the pledge, telling the teacher that he thinks the flag and the national anthem are “racist” against black people, according to an affidavit. The teacher then had what appeared to be a contentious exchange with him.

Spoiler:
Alvarez responded by saying, “Well you can always go back, because I came here from Cuba, and the day I feel I’m not welcome here anymore, I would find another place to live.” She then called the district office because she did not want to keep dealing with the student, according to the statement.

Officials said the situation escalated. The student yelled at the dean and a school resource officer who came to the classroom, accused them of being racist and repeatedly refused to leave the room.

“Suspend me! I don’t care. This school is racist,” the student, who is black, told the dean as he walked out of the room with his backpack, according to the affidavit.

The student was later charged with disruption of a school facility and resisting an officer without violence.

The Lakeland Police Department said in a news release that the student was not arrested for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

“This arrest was based on the student’s choice to disrupt the classroom, make threats and resisting the officer’s efforts to leave the classroom,” the release said.

11-Year-Old Arrested After Refusing to Stand for Pledge of Allegiance

A student at the Lawton Chiles Middle Academy in Lakeland, Florida was arrested after he refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. The incident began after a substitute teacher asked the 11-year-old to stand and he refused, explaining that he thought the U.S. flag was racist. The teacher then apparently got into a contentious argument with the boy and asked “Why if it was so bad here he did not go to another place to live,” according to a statement the teacher gave to the district. “They brought me here,” the boy replied.
