Well assuming Zion is out of play, a team that lands the 2nd or 3rd pick in this year's draft.

Memphis with Jaren Jackson Jr is another team.

If the Knicks sent Knox, Ntilikina, DSJ, Lance Thomas and 3rd Overall for Beal, would they be able to get anything else with Beal?

Well the only players signed to the roster for next season outside of Beal are John Wall, Ian Mahinmi, Dwight Howard & Troy Brown Jr, our most recent first round pick who can't even beat out NBDL guys for minutes so it's your choice. :D

Would you do that deal as is? It leaves NYK with enough to MAX both KD and Kyrie.

Come on Dat. Brown Jr not playing under Scott Brooks means literally nothing. We know you didn’t like the pick, but come on. Austin Rivers was playing 30 MPG and playing over Satoransky. Brandon Jennings, Marcus Thornton, Trey Burke, the list goes on and on. Overreliance on Morris, using mike Scott and Morris as a frontcourt duo in meaningful playoff moments. The wall Jennings duo? Yikes.

The list goes on and on. Brooks has no idea. Give brown jr a Chance first

You can't. How do you suppose the Wizards acquire the one to two other stars they need? Draft? It isn't going to be through free agency.

The future is real predictable. We'll max Beal out, be stuck on a one way train to nowhere and will end dealing him for pennies on the dollar once he's got his extension and demands a trade.

So what's the rosy scenario for a Beal led team where the second best player is either Thomas Bryant or Tomas Satoransky?

Dat2U wrote:1. Trade Beal to either NY or CHI if either lands the 2nd or 3rd pick.

Lets say Beal for 3rd, Allonzo Trier & Frank Ntilikina

So your solution to a potential payroll problem that is two years down the road is to trade your hard-working leader and all-star for two meh players and a draft pick who MIGHT turn out to be a good pro? No thanks.

There are scenarios where I could see the Zards trading Beal. But that's almost giving him away.

I would. I think some of my fellow board mates would push for a future pick because it sets up perfectly with you guys adding two max deals. I'm happy with getting the 3rd pick, because I know I'm getting either Morant or Barrett which is my goal.

Mahinmi. Honestly, we don't have a whole lot else to offer. You'd probably have to throw in another pick to get Troy Brown.

So the logic that any college player is a college player that hasn't proven anything is pretty damn risk adverse. So your against anyone that you dont clear evidence on? That include Zion too? Should we limit trade prospects to guys who have a minimum of 5 years NBA experience, so you can be sure of what your getting?

Acquiring the 3rd pick isnt giving away Beal for nothing. Beal was in fact the 3rd pick.

The Knicks to truly benefit from having two max slots would have to at least include Kevin Knox as well. As Nate stated, even additional picks could possibly be attained.

And finally, your response did not include a rebuttal to how can the Wizards compete with Wall on the cap and Beal wanting an impending extension. We are not even a guaranteed playoff team as currently constructed. You wanna keep Beal happy? How do you pay him and win?

The Wizards don't have anything else except Troy Brown, who we wouldn't give up. Everyone else is either negative value or a free agent. You can have Dwight Howard if you want.

Well the Knicks couldn't take him anyway, they need to preserve all their space.

I like the kid personally. Seems like a positive, hard working and intelligent guy. That jumper tho. That's why I wasnt high on him myself. I had him as a late first rounder. It's hard to make an impact when not only do you not have a jumper, but your not an elite athlete either to compensate in other ways - which is why I preferred a guy like Zhaire Smith - even though his jumper was in development he was also an elite athlete who can compensate with a quick first step, finishing ability, rebounding ability, etc.

The summer league was a nice showing for him but it will never translate until that jump shot becomes respectable and I suspect he'll always struggle to finish around the rim as well.

Again, everything comes down to him developing that jumper. It's easier said than done. Many players never develop it. His shot doesn't look any better from his freshman year so I'm slightly bearish on his long term prospects.

He actually started well this year, but Dat is right overall. He's not super athletic & he's not super skilled.

He's smart, so I think he'll have an ok NBA career. But not much chance to become outstanding. Obviously -- as I expressed extremely vocally at the time -- Ernie took an incredibly rich draft & pissed it away. Big surprise, right?

(Who'd I say we should take @#45? Who won the dunk contest? Gee... how about that?)

I can see brown jr carving out a long career as a jack of all trades, plus defender. He can handle the ball like a primary ball handler, create offense in the pick and roll. He’s very intelligent and an unselfish team guy. I agree though, it’s all about the jumper, he doesn’t have the plus athletic ability to finish around the rim. He seems destined to be a low TS% guy unless he can become a quality 3pt shooter. He has the intangibles though. I remain optimistic.

He’s been a huge net positive in the g league and filled the stat sheet while averaging low turnovers. He’s shot decent from 3pt range as well. There is hope.lazy comparison time, I see Satoransky before he was making shots, but Sato had a background as an elite 3pt shooter in Europe, Brown jr doesn’t. Time will tell.

Brooks is the same coach who was forced by attrition to play Satoransky. He's messing up not playing Dekker.

Who knows what Troy Brown Jr. is capable of doing if he played for better coach?

His game reminds me of Evan Turner with better D.

If he learns to shoot I think he has the handles and passing to move to the off guard spot, and could be like a Pacers-era Lance Stephenson with a higher BBIQ.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Bryant and Mahinmi (and J.Green) can handle the center minutes. Maybe take a flyer on Christian Wood if you want a 3rd center. I'd also try and keep Dekker. He's another good character guy who plays the right way and would be a good influence on the youngsters, and is young enough himself to maybe develop into something.

Small point - Christian Wood is signed for next season by Milwaukee - though his salary is not guaranteed - so it is possible the Bucks release him - but unlikely.

Not sure what you and Dat's fascination is with Temple - considering he's 32 and used to getting 8 mil a year. I wouldn't consider paying him over the minimum. Vonleh's a different story - at 23 and with some upside - though he's still a very ordinary player at this point.

Gotta laugh at all these reports that Beal was trying to recruit all-stars to come to Washington. The only possible way for an all-star to go to Washington is if Beal is traded to get him.

Bradley... just stop.

Not interested. None of those guys have any All Star potential, or even above-average starter potential. Well, maybe Ingram, but that's looking less and less likely.
