I guess I never realized how old all of the free agents are.

Durant or Kawhi would be the main guys I would target, otherwise Vucevic would be ideal. It’s exciting seeing Dallas finally have an appealing team and cap space. Usually it’s one or the other, not both

This is interesting. What if we give 19M for Dragic to opt out and sign a one year deal with us like Deandre. And give 10M to Nerlens Noel for a one year deal?

Nothing too fancy. Just one year contracts so we can reload in the summer of 2020.

C - Noel
PF- Porzingis
SF- DFS
SG- Doncic
PG- Dragic

Wasn't Ray Spalding waived? He's in the books even if he's not on the team any more?

Yes, he was. He had guaranteed money though, so Mavs will carry dead money into 19-20, which added up with the incomplete roster charge (900k) doesn't change their cap outlook.

I'd re-sign Burke instead of Curry but other than that I think there his a high probability that could be our roster going into next season.

I totally missed that we had such a huge trade exception for Barnes. That could get interesting

I forgot about Lee.

Luka/Brunson/Harris
THJ/Burke/Lee
DFS/Jackson/Broek
KP/Maxi/Kostas
Vuc/Powell/Mejri

Then we move Powell/Lee before TDL for our greatest area of need which will most likely be a starting caliber wing.

Rookie scale cap holds are significantly higher to reflect the vastly increased max offer they can receive in comparison to their current salary.

I think the Mavs like retains all key FAs (KP, DFS, Maxi, JJ) unless another max player is coming. But I don't think the Mavs should be all-in if DFS/Maxi gets Parsons-like offer (16M?) at all. The Mavs needs to keep another max slot by 2020 even after KP's retained. I will consider Hezonja as a try-out candidate. This kind of player will find new life in new systems. See Zach Lavine in Chicago, I think it is a good pick up at 5M for 2 seasons. With KP and Luka around, Hezonja's a very clear role as 3D player. Instead of matching DFS crazy offer, I'd give Hezonja a try instead of sticking a near max on a defensive specialist not named Leonard. Whether or not the athleticism translate, the Mavs would see really well.

I’d offer up the max to Klay or Durant. If they decline then I’d look at those good mid 30’s age players to fill out the roster on one year contracts. Mavs then can try again 2020.
What I absolutely don’t want are average players on Wes/Barnes type contracts. Mediocrity on long term high dollar deals cant happen.

Klay would be the absolute perfect player alongside Luka and KP. I'd prefer if Durant didn't slither around Dallas - great player but don't want that guy and his loser personality anywhere near our young Euros.

Why anyone would want dragic or vuc is beyond me, let alone both of them, this is just really absurd, we want to vuc 20m for what? He's been a tank commander his entire career in Orlando, just a waste of money. Id rather trade for whiteside and have a big 24m expiring than pay 20m pay for a guy that literally solves none of our problems

You had a good argument until you bring the Whiteside to the table... That's the worst thing that can happen to the Mavs...
