Would be ok with Ryan Hollins getting signed, just so we don't have to hear his awful takes on TV. The guy is a troll, which means he's got a bright career in broadcasting.

Re: Buyouts
Give KG a 2 year MLE deal. He can show up and bark at the team all practice long.

I'm sure we would gladly take a non-bum, but that non-bum has realize he is signing for the rest of this year with Boston and next year with New Orleans.
Problem is everyone knows why Boston would give them a Keith Van Horn contract. Boston also has set rotations. So minutes would be tough too.
My guess is that it is even worse they are looking to give someone a two year deal but the second year isn't even going to be guaranteed.

Doesn't it have to get guaranteed before it can be traded anyway?

No. You sign the player to a two year MLE contract with a limited guarantee on the second season and a guarantee date of 8/1/19 or whatever. So the player has to be waived by that date or his contract is guaranteed for the season and you can push that date all the way to some point in Dec. or Jan if agreed to. This is what Boston did with Amir Johnson, Jones Jerebko, and Abdul Nader.
One interesting candidate for this could be Z-Bo. He probably is going to retire anyhow so he isn't going to care about next year.

I know how they structured the Johnson and Jerebko contracts. They signed those contracts in 2015 though and were grandfathered into the new CBA, even though we never used them to facilitate a trade.
---- nevermind, those contracts didn't even have make it to the new CBA, the old one ran through 16/17
For salary matching purposes now, I'm pretty sure the guaranteed portion is the only part that counts in outgoing salary. You can't do it the way those Jerebko and Johnson contracts were done and give the ability to the acquiring team to simply waive them without paying any salary. I think you would have to guarantee that money for that 2nd year before you could have it count as outgoing salary.

Patience will serve us well. Don't really need anything. Still other possibilities to come. I'd personally wait to the last possible minute to see if any injuries happen. Would suck to add a Gortat or something like that and then lose a Smart or Rozier.

I agree. Prudent and smart to wait to see our needs and who shakes loose.
In a vacuum, Robin Lopez would be ideal.
Two problems with that:
!. Paxson.....he has been quoted as saying that they have been using Lopez more (32 and 33 minutes last two games) and they like to keep him around because he is a good locker room presence.
Paxson has also been quoted as saying "why would we pay/buyout (Lopez) to help make another team better?"
2. DA's desire to sign someone to the MLE for two years with a team option for next year to use in the AD deal or any other deal. A player of Lopez's ability/value would unlikely take that MLE we could offer.

There will be a few guys still to come. If we look at Monroe last year, we did not need him at all, I do remember one game he played meaningful minutes. We didn't even have Theis at the time. Williams is added depth already. We honestly have everything we need. Hopefully we see some better options bought out soon. I feel as though theres a chance it will be Melo, just because he has no option and we can give him the 2 min a game he has the endurance for. I really dont want him, but the extra year to give him a shot to continue playing is maybe the only way he gets a shot to play again. We shall see. The longer we wait the better the options will be, still holding out hopes in could be VC. Would be a nice x factor to bring him on the road to TO, IF the Raps can get passed a round this year.

Pass on Monroe. I'd rather have another vet shooter to play with the bench guys.

Exactly, you make it non-guaranteed, team option. When you agree on the AD trade, pick up the guarantee. If you can’t get AD, you don’t pick up the guarantee.

I gotta believe we should get the buyout now. Get someone who can acclimate to our roster.

Re: Buyouts
Still have until Mar 1, so probably a little ways to go yet. Another week and more will want a buyout before it's too late. Wont be surprised if on the 28th we sign a body.
