Rumors this whole offseason has been the Braves are open to selling the farm for Trout but it seems the Halos are making it a priority to resign him with a NTC. Braves have reshifted their focus to Harper and the interest is likewise.

I expect this will be worked out privately. Also, not so secret now, the Braves offered Machado 3/90 if he wanted a short term deal. He didn't bite but had interest in the Braves.

No other Intel other than Liberty wants to buy FSN and they want to create a Braves network for the entire Southeast outside of FL and LA. That's already out there as news. Nothing new

Please don’t tease me Supes. I heard the Giants were the sleeper team. I despise the Giants. Obviously Philly is the front runner but Harper kind of hates Philly fans from what I’ve read as they are a bunch of annoying fans (I dunno ask Mace lol).

I’d rather wait for Trout, and continue to build with Acuna, Albies and our young pitchers. Having said that, it would be a huge splash to land Bryce and would put us in immediate contention and speed up and pretty much almost complete the rebuild.

Trout unlikely to leave Anaheim

Oh I definitely disagree...I’m just hoping he doesn’t go to the stinking Yankees. Trout is already gone in his mind. That dude gonna get $400 mill..

And that's where the economics of baseball (and sports in general) drive me crazy. Mike Trout is a great player.

But why pay him hundreds of millions of dollars when he can't carry a team into contention. His teams haven't made the playoffs in 5 years and his team has never won a playoff series.

You can accomplish that level of mediocrity without paying him a third of a billion dollars.

It's the Barry Sanders rule all over again. Trade that man and build a team with young, cheap talent.
Win or lose, it's still better than the alternative.

Says who? I think it's highly likely that he leaves. This will be his 8th season, he's been to the playoffs once. Read that sentence again. They were below .500 while missing the playoffs yet again this past season. Outside of Otani( who is out due to Tommy John), who else do they have? Pujols is 40 and J Up is 32. Simmons is a great SS, but he's not a superstar player. They need to make major trades or signing to keep Trout. Their farm system is ranked 22, with 2 top 100 prospects. Neither are projected to be at the major league level before Trout is a FA after the 2020 season.

You were right the first time, if it's anyone it'll be Trout. He's head and shoulder better than Harper/Machado. He'll get 400 +.

Agree with this. I think Trout thinks he’s bigger than baseball and if he thinks that he can’t possibly believe Anaheim is the place. It’s sadly going to be the Yankees or Red Sox but man oh man the Braves would be an awesome look.

Having said that, I do like our rebuild and the way it’s going even without him. We just picked up Donaldson who is vastly underrated and puts up huge numbers and he impacts winning greatly in my mind.

Donaldson might be a steal at his salary. The guys produced for the A’s (I watch a ton of games) and the Jays after that. If he is healthy, look out!

NOT INTENTIONAL. Just trying to hammer home that having a great player on a bad/mediocre team benefits no one.

So you probably don’t agree with what the Pads did yesterday? Manny wise?

I think Philly has a better chance at him than the Yankees or Red Sox. He's from the Philly area. My pipe dream is that the Braves get him. I'd sell him on pairing with Freeman and Acuna, plus all our high end pitchers. Even better if we bring Kimbrel back. I think the Braves are set up for a run of success, when these young arms start to come around, even without Trout. But he would take us to the next level, WS contenders yearly.

Manny Machado signing by Pads. Sometimes makes me think that if clubs like the Detroit Lions and San Diego Padres can’t build, might as well land a star. That’s the pessimist in me I guess. I root for these small market guys.

LOL

I'm pretty uneducated on current baseball landscape outside of the NL East.

But I do understand why so many big name free agents have been unable to find the huge, long term deals that once were offered every summer.

They can blame A-Rod and Pujols for diminishing returns on decade-long, outlandish contracts in years past.

Agreed. I’d also like to add that I’d like to see a world where the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Lions, Milwaukee Brewers, Indiana Pacers, and other teams stand out and shine..replacing the usual suspects: The Yankees, Red Sox, Lakers, Celts..etc. I mean let other fans have some fun and win some rings.

Lions fans in particular have known nothing but misery and ineptitude for decades.

I like the Pacers organization. They've at least had a Hall of Famer player and an NBA Finals team this century.

(2000 counts as this century, right? )

We did have 2 of the biggest superstars the game has known in Barry and Calvin though. That’s something..

Pacers seem to be doing it the right way with Bird n Pritch.

I concur, Spud.
Pay the big name big dollars, hope the farm matures, and thirdly hope other free agents will want to sign in the future.
I respect what San Diego did but now they need starting pitching.

Cowherd: Russell Wilson Could Replace Eli Manning as Giants QB

Cowherd noted the rumor was coming from the "entertainment/agent world" and that everybody would likely deny it, but suggested Wilson to the Giants would make sense:

"Wilson's wife is Ciara. She is a singer and an entertainer. She would prefer to live in New York. The Giants need a quarterback, and there's nobody in the draft they love. So, just remember this. A lot of things add up: Last year of Russell's contract. His wife would prefer New York. Seattle is not an entertainment mecca. ... The Giants need a star quarterback to replace Eli [Manning]."

Uncanny....

2 Baseball Players Named Brady Feigl Take DNA Tests To See If They're Related

Image

Notice any resemblance?

Two minor league players are causing some major league confusion because of their names, their looks and, well, everything else.

Brady Feigl is a 6-foot, 4-inch pitcher for a Single-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s. Meanwhile, Brady Feigl is a 6-foot, 4-inch pitcher for the Texas Rangers’ Triple-A club.

Both Bradys have red hair, sport red beards and favor thick glasses, according to Inside Edition.

Despite the similarities, the Feigls don’t believe they are long-lost twins separated at birth ― or even related at all.

However, Inside Edition decided to let science make the final call and got both Brady Feigls to take a DNA test.

Turns out they had one big similarity: The Feigls shared the same amount of Germanic ancestry ― 53 percent.

However, no shared DNA means they aren’t actually related to each other.
