Worst Nuggets' Contract
The trade forum often talks about paying to dump contracts. The Nuggets did some of that last off season. I'm not a big fan of a couple of our contracts but I don't see any of them as terrible and requiring us to add a draft pick just to get rid of.
So just looking at our five $10m plus salaries, which is the worst one in your opinion?

Barton by far. Dude is making 40M in the next three years and he should not play longer than 15mins, specially considering MPJ.

Lyles is not a terrible player, he really just doesn't fit the scheme we run. I don't see us signing him unless it's a really team-friendly contract which would just be keeping him as a trade asset for the future IMO.

I'll agree with U hova and with Skywalker33. My fear is that our front office will pay him too much - which they seem to have done, IMO, with not only Barton & Plumlee but also Faried & Chandler and perhaps a couple of others. Managing salary cap is more than just using what's available, it includes looking at the overall cap years down the road. 2 Max players wipe out half of a team's cap or more. If you have 3 mid-level players in addition to 2 max players, the cap is pretty much wiped out. So overpaying role players can lead to luxury tax in a hurry.

Re: Worst Nuggets' Contract
Barton by far. When we sign it last summer I complained loudly, with the statement that out of 4 years only the first season Barton will be used as $14M worthy player. But with his October injury and Beasley/Morris improvement, and fact that he didn't adapt his game better to Jokic, even this season he is overpaid for his real Nuggets role. Next season with MPJ in, can be only worse. He should be traded.
I'm not afraid that Lyles is going to be overpaid after such disappoint season. But it maybe happens with Millsap if team decide to hold him for $30M which is way too much for someone which will be next season 35y old veteran. Actually, $30M salary should not be changed, but it should be paid in the next two season with the new 15+15 contract.
Plumlee proved he is worthy as a player his contract, or close to that, but not in the team like Denver with the center as a franchise player, where Plumlee playing time is limited on 20mpg. But Plumlee contract is expiring next season, so this problem is not even close that big like in Barton case.

Re: Worst Nuggets' Contract
Barton is a bad fit with what we are doing, but I do not think he is a bad contract. He is paid low level starter money, and I think he is slightly better than low level starter on the right team. He needs traded to a team that needs a SG.
I do not think they are going to bring Lyles back. There were rumors that we were offering Lyles in a trade to the Knicks at the deadline, and his sudden lack of playing time despite him finally looking servicable just before his minutes were cut tell me a lot about the future plans with him.
I do worry about what it will take to bring Millsap back. As odd as it may sound I would not be shocked if they picked up his option and kept him at $30 million this year, we need another year to see what we have with Vanderbilt, Juancho, and MPJ and we need major cap space in 2020 with having to extend Murray, Beasley, and possibly Juancho. If they opt out and re-sign him than I think he gets a 2 year $40 million deal with the final year a team option or partial guarantee.

Re: Worst Nuggets' Contract
Saw on Hoopsrumors that Lyles could accept his QO ($3.47M) if it was extended. Not sure Nuggets extend it at this point though although that would put him in a reasonable/tradable contract range.

Barton, but his contract is not nearly as insane as some others around the league.
No horrible albatross contracts on the team, that's a good thing!

Лилес је најталентованији нападац без постављања, најлаксе мозе сакупити поене.The problem is that it does not work for the team from that can not profit her game ..

Basically it says Lyles scores best without being setup - or that's what I think it says. Perhaps I got it wrong because Lyles seems to score best when he is a spot-up shooter receiving passes.

That is what my translator says. You however are right, Lyles is best as a spot up shooter or on kick outs. The biggest reason he does not fit with a Jokic offense is that Lyles is expected to move, Lyles works best as a guy who picks his spot and lets the ball handler get him the open shot or drive. He plays very well with guys like Barton and Thomas, but he does not understand how to get himself open.
A team like the Wizards were with Wall, the Lakers, the Thunder, the Rockets, and those types of teams Lyles is a very good offensive PF. He is just never going to be a good fit with Jokic without changing his entire game and mindset, that is why he should have went at the deadline, now I hope he doesn't take the qualifying offer. I just don't think the Nuggets should lose him for nothing unless they have no other choice.

Re: Worst Nuggets' Contract
I'm not entirely sure if I agree with that assessment... Lyles looks most comfortable when he's driving to the rim or on the block - or at least it looks that way this season. He's been really bad as a catch and shoot option this season, and he's shown ability to work as a ball-handler in pnr sets that might make things interesting, but that all requires him touching the ball more. I quite frankly wouldn't trust him if I wanted him to just be a Ryan Anderson.
