Yeah, but he and Bo Jackson and Bolt and Serena and Phelps and Federer and Woods and Messi and a few more in history of modern sports have proven to not only be super human physical exceptions from all norms, but also that you just cannot rule out the possibility that he might just break the longevity norm expectations, as well. Like Brady has. LeBron as much of a health and body geek as Brady.
I would actually be surprised if he broke down when could be expected by normal humans’ standards. He, like the others mentioned above, is perfectly built for his sport. He’s a physical freak. But I guess eceryone’s ligaments dry up eventually. Who knows? I expect him to last much longer than could be expected.
I still want to trade him because he’s a backstabbing excuse for a leader. Get out if you think you’re bigger than the team. The movie making assembly line population of LA can spot a blame immune finger pointing self serving leader from a mile away.
Trade him to NY.

Uhhh ok. We won, I'm happy, and I see this crap and wow.
3/4 of this is the kind of whiny bs that actually makes me a Kobe stan even though I basically swore at him half his career for being a ball hog and have NEVER been a Kobe stan... but "I did the things every player is supposed to, I drove and kicked, I took a charge, I drove the lane to sacrifice for my team" in vocal please love me form, is so bad. sooo sooo bad.
If this had been tongue and cheek and aimed at Harden, I would love this, but this is clearly a guy who's blowing his own horn after not guarding **** all for 3 quarters and saving up his energy. ffffffffffff

Agreed... This sounds like a guy who woke up and realized fans were starting to turn on his ass...
He looked like he was playing 3/4 speed all night. I'm not so sure he was taking it easy tonight... Even down the stretch, he looked slow and was having trouble elevating and finishing... Shots I thought he should have made easily he made look like difficult misses.
I'll reserve judgement until the end of the season... But I'm sure right now, that I don't want to hear LeBron talking about LeBron anymore...

Yeah I agree that he was likely pretty hurt and still finding his way back or he's just sore and old and trying to find his inner Bill Walton for the moments that count while his body can't cash the checks his brain writes.
And I agree that the way to play that reality is to not deliver an Othello shakespearian declaration of how you are doing the things that you should do as the "Best Player in the Game".

To be fair, I think everyone in the league after 30 generally does the same thing Lebron is doing. I don't really think his conservation declaration is news.

It sounds like a guy who’s been doing interviews since highschool, been the focal point of basketball for over a decade now, and is saying exactly what the media wants to hear. How else is he supposed to answer the question?
I’m not sure who’s turning on him. If anything, he’s got more of a following than a couple years ago. Got the most all-star votes for the second year in a row.

Re: The LeBron Thread (merged)
He ended the game strong. But he played and acted like a bitch the first half, first three quarters. He didn't fight at all, poor leadership and poor body language. He also looked old.
Also, he started playing better after our scrappy young guys fought us back into the game. He was a big part of closing the game, no doubt. But he didn't do the heavy lifting.
But his comments about playing hard, playoff activation, and "happy" about his squad (never said that before the trade deadline!)...come on.
Whether anybody is a Lebron fan or not, objectively, there's more than a little bit of bitch in him.

You're not being objective at all though.
Objectively on the court LeBron does what is best for the team. Best for the team is conserving himself for when it matters and just doing enough to get to the place that matters.
Objectively off the court LeBron makes millions of dollars off the court by marketing a story to the media.
Objectively off the court LeBron works on himself and his game more than probably anyone ever (along with Kobe).
You want him to play hard now, which will get him hurt and hurt the teams chance of success for the season end and the seasons remaining on his contract, hurting the Lakers.
You want him to not talk like this, which will lose him millions of dollars, hurting himself.
Nothing you're asking him to do is very smart and you don't seem like an unintelligent person so I can only assume it's subjectively fuelled.

In the 4th quarter LeBron scored 8 points and had 2 assists during the 17-4 run that turned a 7 point deficit into a 6 point lead. At least try to be objective next time.

Re: The LeBron Thread (merged)
LeBron rolls an ankle that would take most players out for games but he just plays through it. He's tough. He plays up getting hit to get foul calls to give his team an advantage to winning.
He's not wrong when he says he sacrifices himself by driving into the key and kicking it out. That does injure players, that's how most players get major injuries. Just because he's big doesn't mean it doesn't hurt, it just means he can take contact and continue to pass the ball or shoot.
Nothing he says is untrue, people don't like him selling himself which I understand but he also makes millions of dollars from doing that. I'm not begrudging the hustle.

Can’t deny that. Many of his decisions and actions have been. But let’s not let his occasional bitchiness define him.

Yeah, I noticed his body language too. Really negative. And it didn't feel like he had a huge impact for most of the game. He had a big dunk toward the end and made that drifting layup to kind of seal it, but it really seemed to start witht that "scrappy" lineup with Kuz, Hart, KCP, etc.
There were a couple of times in the first half where it looked like the Rockets were poised to pull away and I saw him kinda just trailing the play, jogging, usually after he had hung his head after a missed shot or something.

Re: The LeBron Thread (merged)
Lakers fans have to realize that they didn't get 27 year old Lebron, they got 34 year old Lebron. He's not able to be 'best player in the world Lebron' every single night in the regular season. He coasts in some games. He rests. The frustrations from Lakers fans now remind me of the frustrations from Cavs fans last season. There was about a month from early January to early February where a lot of them wanted him gone. They wanted to trade him. Then he dragged them to the Finals and they changed their tune.
Do you want best player in the world Lebron now, or do you want him in the playoffs? Because you can't get both anymore. If Cavs fans got him when they wanted him in January of last year then they wouldn't have gotten him for 46/11/9 down 3-2 to Boston in the eastern conference finals. They wouldn't have gotten him for 35/15/9 for all 48 minutes for game 7 of the ECF.
They wouldn't have gotten him even for the first round last year. They wouldn't have gotten 46/12/5 in game 2. They wouldn't have gotten 44/10/8 in game 5. They wouldn't have gotten him for 45/8/7 in game 7.
They wouldn't have gotten him for 43/14/8 in game 2 of the semifinals. They wouldn't have gotten him for 38/7/6 in game 3.
If you're a Lakers fan who has been frustrated by this season I understand your frustrations. This happens every year for Lebron. But remember, he didn't forget how to play basketball in the last year. He's still the same game. You just have to ask yourselves when you want to see that Lebron.

And Kobe being 'playoff activated' at LeBron's age led to him blowing out his Achilles, essentially ending his career. Even if Lebron went 100% every night and stayed healthy the Lakers aren't winning a title this year. They don't have the firepower. It's in everyone's best interests for Lebron to pace himself. So, why so much anger from people on here about it?

The Lebron fan boys aren’t going to appreciate kobe. I can’t believe I saw a poster say that Lebron plays through injuries more than anyone including Kobe. They clearly didn’t watch Kobe. But anyways I digress. Happy we won. Happy Lebron feels “engaged now”. Let’s keep winning.

Some of it, I get. It’s entirely legit to question whether we made the right decision to sign a post-prime superstar in his mid 30s whose career track does not align whatsoever with where the rest of our team.
The lack of success we’ve had has been frustrating for everybody, and the fact that he’s already suffered one of the longest injuries of his career — maybe the longest? — doesn’t bode well for the remaining three years of his contract.
As for the rest? I’d go a step further and call it not only ridiculous, but talk-radio, Skip-Bayless stupid, too.
I’ve avoided it for the most part given that it’s a useless discussion, but there’s always been a portion of our fan base that’s had an extremely weird disdain for LeBron. Celtics fans, I get. But we’ve never had anything approaching a rivalry with him or his teams.
But he took Kobe’s mantle and emphatically surpassed him, so there’s always going to be a certain level of resentment. Which we’ve seen bubble up throughout the season, and will continue to even if by some miracle he does help us win a championship.
