Devin Booker - The Kaiser of Empty Stats

Post#1 » by Lord Cuban » Fri Feb 22, 2019 12:48 pm

Devin Booker is in his 4th season in the NBA and he signed a $158 million maximum contract extension last summer. He is still good young player but he is clearly not a franchise player material or a superstar. since he came into the league his stats never translated in wins, his team never won more than 24 games with him and that's unacceptable for a guy that talks like his the Man of the team or a star... he is the 3rd in the entire league in turnovers per game and plays one of worst defense in the league... This guy is the Kaiser of Empty Stats.

Third among SGs in ORPM.
“They don’t pay players to play defense”- Sir Jabari Parker

Problem lies in his defense and this makes him a net zero player

Dude had multiple coaches changed and tons of players traded while he's there. He doesn't even have a legit point guard to help him out. He's a talented scorer, one dimensional but with the right pieces surrounded around him they would win more games.

when you play for one of the worst nba team owners there's only so much you can expect

What I don't get about the Suns is they seem unable to utilize supposedly useful players and turn them into unplayable ones (Chandler, Anderson, Ariza, ...).

I don't think we are able to truly rate Booker in such an organization.

He's definitely not the kind of player you hitch your struggling franchise to. He would've looked very good on a competent team like the Celtics. If a superstar joins their team you can expect a similar career trajectory as 14-17 Irving. Expecting him to just "figure it out" and carry the team out of the wilderness will lead nowhere.

Someone is going to steal him in the next 18-36 months.

I don’t like him after a few games last year of just being a punk in the games we played him, but still think he’s a very good player (or at least has the ability with the correct structure to play as one). Phoenix just can’t seem to put it together and of course he’s part of it. He’s not the type of all around guy to boost a poorly rounded out team, but I still think he could be good-great #2 on the right team.

I haven't been a fan of his but I do think he's a byproduct of dysfunction. Had he been with an organization with some semblance of structure, he'd be a better player I think.

I also expect him to be the next guy to ask out of his organization. Honestly if he doesn't ask out in some capacity, I'd probably question him as a player even more.

Culture in Phx is horrible. After that 70 point game, you knew what kinda player he was and what that team cares about

It'll be interesting to see what happens if/when he demands a trade from Phoenix. What's the earliest a player has wanted out after signing their rookie extension?

Trash supporting cast, too many coaching changes, no point guards... Surround him with solid players/veterans and he’ll win more games.

I thought he and Ayton were the new Kobe and Shaq?

At least Kobe and Shaq can get a team to win frequently. They lost 16 in a row.

As if Igor had a choice in who to draft.

More than likely they wanted to hire a cheap coach and dont care about winning in the forseeable future. Remember there's not a lot of good available former nba coaches out there. If any. And if there is Im not sure they'd want to coach the Suns. Im sure Igor wanted Luka but had little say seeing as he's a first time head coach.

They need better ownership and a gm that can turn them around.

His Defensive deficiencies outweigh his offense and he’s a massive ball hog

People complain about LaVine getting 18m per year when they are basically the same player
