I honestly didn't watch until the fourth match (it started reasonably early over here).
We've had the continued feud between G.O.D, Ishimori and Bullet Club in general with the reformed Most Violent Players/GBH and Taguchi.
White, Fale and Chase vs Okada, Tanahashi and Yoshi-Hashi. More of the same tbh. Though White's new submission finisher is something else I have a feeling though that White's dominance, knowing Gedo, is a false flag and actually Bode's well for Tanahashi (though if White loses, i feel he's going to basically cripple Tanahashi at this point, either after the match, or at some stage).
Now for the real beginning of the event (the rest of it was a good build up, this after that is for the real meat).
IWGP Jr Tag Team titles - Shingo & Bushi vs Desperado & Kanemaru
Really solid match overall. Good back and forth, standard suzuki-gun antics in the middle with them taking it to the outside but the match was mostly in the ring. This Bushi vs El Desperado matchup has become a really nice rivalry, probably ending a mask vs mask match at somepoint this year.
IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles - EVIL & SANADA vs Suzuki & ZSJ
Standard Suzuki-Gun start, they jump LIJ and go from there. Sanada spends a good 10 minutes at the start just being beaten up for the most part. EVIL gets the hot tag and momentum swings. At some point though it looked like Suzuki would get the submission on Sanada, but momentum swung back in favour
IWGP Intercontinental Championship - Tetsuya Naito vs Taichi
This match almost didn't get started, as Naito was jumped at the bell by Iizuka. Iizuka drills him with the ladder (including across the head) and Taichi hits Black Memphisto on the ramp, they take him to the back and we get a 15 minute 'will-they, won't they' dance. New Japan President (Subayashi) and head trainer comes out, Red Shoes grabs the belt and hides the belt with his chest on the turnbuckle
Anyway after it looked like they would call a no contest, Naito somehow goes ringside, ignoring the advice of the trainer and President and we have a match, it looked like it could be a squash early on, but Taichi tries to hit black mephisto onto a table, Naito reverses it and hits the piledriver instead onto the table outside. From there, we had a reasonably 50-50 match. Both kicking out of big moves (Taichi kicked out of a Destino and nut kick combo, Naito kicked out of, basically everything). We also had another Iizuka run in, which Naito then goes out and attacks him. Taichi tries to hit him with the title but Naito reverses, thinks about hitting him with that title (like how he won against Jericho) but instead goes for the mic stand, Taichi low blows him and whacks him with the chair on the head (dw, its gimmicked i think). Anyway we have some back and forth, eventually Naito gets some momentum, hits a second Destino.
